Description
From Oscar® and Emmy®-winner Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey) comes this sprawling period drama set during New York City's Gilded Age. Season 1 begins in 1882 when young Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson), the orphaned daughter of a Union general, moves into the home of her old money aunts and gets caught up in the dazzling lives of her stupendously rich neighbors. Season 2 picks up in 1883 as Bertha (Carrie Coon) sets out to challenge the old guard by backing the new Metropolitan Opera House, while George (Morgan Spector) faces his own battles at his largest steel plant. In the van Rhijn house, Marian secretly begins teaching at a girls' school, while Ada (Cynthia Nixon) finds herself in an unexpected courtship – much to Agnes' (Christine Baranski) chagrin. In this glittering world on the brink of the modern age, will the rules of society prevail, or will the game change entirely?
