Longtime ER nurse Jackie Peyton bends the rules to bring some good from a patient's senseless death, while concealing her addiction to painkillers she gets from her boyfriend, the hospital pharmacist.

Jackie and her husband Kevin are worried that their daughter Grace might have an anxiety disorder. Meanwhile, Jackie's Percocet-laced coffee gets into the wrong hands.

Jackie meets a patient who uses his wife's chicken soup to treat his heart disease. Later, she talks to Dr. O'Hara about her daughter's anxiety and learns that a pill-dispensing machine will take Eddie's job.

Jackie and Kevin think about sending their daughter Grace to a private school. Meanwhile, stoic Dr. O'Hara can't escape a boy who wants to thank her for saving his twin brother's life.

A 10-year-old girl needs Jackie's help to care for her mother who suffers from lupus. Furthermore, Mrs. Akalitus manages to taser herself.

When Jackie meets an old friend and fellow nurse who suffers from terminal lung cancer, she is asked to help her commit suicide. A gall bladder attack brings Dr. Cooper's mother to the hospital where she gives away a secret about her son.

After the ex-husband of his date attacked him with a knife, a man is brought to the ER. Meanwhile, Mrs. Akalitus takes care of a foundling who was left at the nurses' station.

When Jackie addresses a temp nurse's drug abuse, he calls her an hypocrite. In the meantime, Mrs. Akalitus is still responsible for the baby left at the station.

Jackie has to deal with the consequences of her drug abuse and Zoey's criticism on Jackie's initial treatment of a patient. Also, Jackie falsifies an organ donor's file.

Jackie has to come up with drastic measures to keep Dr. Cooper from exposing her for falsifying an organ donor's file. Besides, Jackie can't take her wedding ring off when she is about to meet Eddie and seeks Dr. O'Hara's help.

Jackie gets cut off her Percocet supply when Eddie is finally replaced by a pill-dispensing machine. Zoey makes a mistake and gives a wrong dosis of a painkiller to a film critic who ends up in a coma and Eddie finds out the truth about Jackie's family.

Kevin asks Jackie to meet for a rendezvous at midnight. Eddie threatens to tell the truth about Jackie's family and Dr. O'Hara's mother is brought to the ER.

After the confrontation with Eddie at the end of season one, it's now a few months later and Jackie is on the beach with her family. She's cut ties with Eddie and is determined to dive back in and spend more time with her family.

After a morning dealing with Grace's escalating anxiety, Jackie helps a struggling family speed along a test to diagnose a little boy's cystic fibrosis. But cutting through the red tape leads to sending the patient home with the wrong information.

During an after-school playdate, Ginny and Kaitlin annoy Jackie with their presence, and Kaitlyn catches Jackie snorting a line of Adderal. Kevin tells Jackie he doesn't like Dr. O'Hara's offer of money for the girls, for fear of being indebted to her.

Jackie confronts Eddie about stalking her and asks him to stay away from her family. Dr. Cooper and Jackie are at odds about how to treat a cancer patient's nausea from chemo. Jackie provides a patient with marijuana even though it's illegal in New York.

Jackie overreacts to Kevin's movie date with Ginny and the girls. Mrs. Akalitus stations a security guard at the Pill-O-Matix, making access harder for Jackie. Mrs. Akalitus asks Dr. Cooper to be the “Face of All Saints,” a citywide ad campaign.

Jackie sleeps with Eddie at his apartment and tells him to stop seeing Kevin. Posters with Dr. Cooper's face are plastered all over the city, much to the disgust of Jackie and Dr. O'Hara.

Post-birthday party, Fiona busts her lip open on her cast, and Dr. O'Hara and Jackie stitch her up in the Peyton kitchen. Jackie notices Sarah Khouri's philandering behavior and brings up her concerns to Dr. O'Hara.

Jackie deals with Fiona's teacher's concerns and suspicions about her busted lip and cast. Dr. Cooper sets his friend Georgia up with Eddie. Dr. O'Hara, ended things with Sarah, takes comfort with spending time with Jackie and her family.

Jackie tells Kevin she wants to send Fiona to Immaculate with Grace. Kevin makes Jackie promise not to accept money from Dr. O'Hara. Jackie rents a P.O. Box in order to receive her secret credit card bill that she's now using to pay for prescriptions.

Jackie shows Dr. O'Hara a fake MRI to get an oxy prescription. Dr. O'Hara confronts Orthopedics and finds out that Jackie faked her MRI. Mrs. Akalitus rehires Eddie as the hospital pharmacist.

After avoiding Eddie, O'Hara and the drug dealer who has come looking for his stolen pills, Jackie takes off early for a family vacation upstate. Kevin and the girls are excited, but every activity they've planned is a disaster.

After a disastrous family vacation, Jackie returns to work for a day of reckoning. The mounting pressures and conflicts in her personal and professional life reach a boiling point. Unexpected alliances lead to revelations that even Jackie can't avoid.

Jackie's marriage is strained, as is her relationship with O'Hara after the intervention; Akalitus warns the staff that nearby hospitals have closed down, straining the staff and resources; Zoey publicly confesses her affair with Lenny.

Eddie tells Jackie he can't keep lying to Kevin. Akalitus announces that All Saints is dying for a visit from Michelle Obama. The rift between Jackie and O'Hara softens when Jackie tells her that she'll follow her to any hospital just to be near her.

Much to Jackie's surprise Kevin's younger sister, Tunie, shows up in the girls' bedroom. On their way to work, Jackie tells Eddie she thinks Kevin installed Tunie to monitor her in the wake of his intervention. Lenny prepares Zoey a romantic picnic lunch.

Jackie's back in the swing of things. Zoey's working her first double shift and Jackie worries about her burning out. O'Hara accepts the title of ER chief. Kevin invites Eddie to a backyard barbecue to celebrate his new job.

Jackie is on edge after realizing the stash of pills she stole from Bill is quickly dwindling. Jackie confronts Eddie about his text exchanges with Kevin's younger sister. Jackie and O'Hara spar over whether to confront a mother who's making false claims.

As Jackie's supply of pills starts to dwindle, her strategies become more intense and secretive. At All Saints, the saints from the chapel are being removed. Jackie finds herself unable to even walk through her own front door at the end of the day.

Jackie soothes Grace's anxiety about the upcoming saint pageant. Kelly Slater continues to win over the All Saints crew. Zoey connects with a twelve-year-old boy whose mother was brought in as a drug overdose.

Jackie visits Bill at his diner only to find that he has no pills for her. At All Saints, while helping Akalitus understand her new high-tech office phone, Thor helps her face a deeper fear.

With Jackie's drug hookup crushed under a truck, she's run out of pills and is jonesing. Eddie confronts Kelly about the missing Fentanyl patches from the Oncology run he passed off to Jackie.

The Peytons meet with Grace's psychiatrist Dr. Bowen. At work, when Jackie asks Eddie if he can fill Grace's scrip he's cagey.  Akalitus pulls Jackie off a case and tells her that she's putting her on probation based on an inquiry that has come from HR.

Kevin dodges Jackie early in the morning and takes off to batting practice where he meets Eddie. Jackie, still sober and in pain, is trying to hang on to her tenuous sobriety and get through her probation.

Akalitus is all over the staff:  HR has mandated a urine sample from all the nurses.  Jackie keeps dodging her but she knows her number is up.  Coop's wedding is today and Jackie has forgotten to get the cake.

It's business as usual, except for one small detail: the hospital has been purchased by the multinational corporation Quantum Bay, and the new director — the handsome-but-serious Mike Cruz — has arrived for his first day of work with a lengthy to-do list.

Jackie is detoxing in rehab. When she finally wakes, she meets her elderly roommate, an unfriendly klepto named Doris. Mike Cruz's innovations continue to irritate the whole staff, except for Coop.

Worried about Grace, Jackie leaves rehab early against the medical advice of her counselor and returns to a very different All Saints. On top of the Quantam Bay takeover, this is the first time she's had to work sober.

When Grace reveals she knows about rehab, Jackie is blindsided, and goes to Kevin's to make sure he's aware of everything before he hears it from someone else. She's shocked to find a scantily clad woman lounging on his couch when she arrives.

Jackie, making pancakes for the girls, realizes too late that the girls aren't even home. At O'Hara's apartment, she admits that she's not adjusting well to living alone and, against O'Hara's advice, decides to call Kevin and invite him to lunch.

Jackie wakes from a vivid dream about sex with Cruz. Kevin, suing for full custody, prompts O'Hara to take action on Jackie's behalf. Jackie and Zoey grow accustomed to their new living situation at the Peyton home, and “co-parenting” duties.

Jackie meets her high-powered divorce lawyer, and is told to play hardball with Kevin if she wants to keep her kids. Eddie becomes an unwilling participant in the Peyton divorce battle.

Jackie comes clean to Cruz about rehab while they tend to an intoxicated Charlie. Charlie bargains with Cruz for Jackie's job, then returns to rehab. Faulty air conditioning puts the entire staff on edge.

Grace argues with Jackie about enrolling in a new public school. O'Hara's hemorrhage patient needs surgery but she wants to leave to pick up her father, who slipped and fell. Jackie wants to hire temp nurses but Cruz doesn't allow it.

In the Season Four finale, Cruz purposely pushes Jackie to the breaking point and uses her reaction as grounds to fire her, despite the staff's protests. Jackie enrolls Grace in public school.

An overturned bus makes for a crazy day at All Saints. Meanwhile, O'Hara just wants to spend every minute with her new son and Akalitus gives Eddie back his old job - all this, the day before Jackie's birthday.

Jackie and Kevin are at a stalemate in their divorce mediation because Kevin wants full custody. A patient from the bus crash is back after she contracted sepsis while at All Saints. Coop is angry that he isn't named Chief of the ER.

After their custody meeting, Jackie rear-ends Kevin. Kevin accuses her of using. Coop begins covering for Carrie and taking on a lot more work. When Carrie checks on Jackie, she writes her a prescription for Oxy, unaware she's an addict.

A heavily medicated Jane Doe is brought into the ER and Jackie tasks Zoey with finding out who she is. Jackie faces conflict with both her daughters - Fiona has been acting out in class while Grace sneaks around the city with her older boyfriend.

Jackie is nervous about her date with Frank, so Zoey and Thor help her get ready and Eddie offers some friendly pointers. Prentiss misdiagnoses an injured dancer, but Akalitus and Coop catch his mistake before the patient leaves.

Jackie and Grace both have to recover from their nights of indiscretion. Carrie uses flashcards to strengthen her skills but then cons Coop into doing more of her work. Jackie tries to tell Cruz what they did was a mistake.

Akalitus forgets to hire an escort for a psych patient who ends up laying waste to the pharmacy. Frank cancels his lunch date with Jackie because he picked up an extra shift. Zoey hears Coop and Carrie having sex.

Kevin interrupts Jackie and Frank's night. Akalitus' blood results are in. Zoey helps Prentiss organize his disaster of an office. Jackie is convinced that Grace is sneaking behind her back to see Danny. Frank urges Jackie to work on her issues.

Jackie and Frank have sex for the first time. Akalitus has an extra spring in her step. Coop wants to take his mentoring of Carrie to the next level. Kevin and Grace show up at the hospital after Kevin finds a bag of pills in Grace's bag.

Its Jackie's one year anniversary of sobriety and she and Frank fight about their relationship. Zoey acts very professional and rigid around Prentiss after their intimate evening. Carrie's peer review does not go well. Grace has a breakdown about Jackie.

Like a diabetic in a doughnut shop Jackie is working in a high-pressure environment surrounded by the very medications that could cause her to fall off the wagon. New show runner Clyde Phillips discusses the decision to have Nurse Jackie stay sober in Season 5 as well as the other big changes in Jackie's life as she faces the consequences of her past choices and embarks on a new romance. When Jackie tells Grace about her news, Grace's reaction surprises her. As the hospital begins the process of shutting down, Dr. Prince enlists Jackie's help to keep an ICU patient with a brain tumor from giving up his fight to live.

Jackie and Zoey set out on an unexpected road trip.  Stressed out by the long drive, Zoey finally confronts her frustration with Jackie.  Dr. Prince attracts a neighborhood mob to All Saints.

Jackie and Eddie's quiet morning is interrupted by an unwelcome knock at the door that puts everything they've worked for in jeopardy.  Jackie is shocked to learn that her nursing license hearing has been moved up to today.

Jackie is back, but Zoey has mixed feelings about her return. Jackie bonds with an emotionally unstable, but charming, patient Vigilante Jones who claims to be a superhero. Dr. Prince inadvertently puts a patient's life at risk.

It's the last day at All Saints and Jackie's future is clearly up in the air. Emotions are running high especially when an old friend makes a surprise return.
