Happy Endings: The Complete Series

When wedding day jitters explode into chaos for Alex and Dave, they and their circle of friends are left wondering if their tight knit group can survive the ensuing break up.

As Dave finds himself sucked into a serious relationship with a woman he doesn’t like, Alex searches for a roommate and Penny finds a flamboyant friend.

Max’s parents are in town and he’s never come out to them. He enlists Jane to be his “beard” (fake girlfriend)- in the end he comes out. Penny dates Hitler.

Max and Dave discover there's a guy living in their ceiling. Penny encourages Alex to start dating again and unknowingly sets her up with the "ceiling guy". Jane pushes Brad to go on a couples date with Brad's married coworker.

Jane pushes Brad to say "I love you" to his dad (Damon Wayans Sr.) At the hospital, Francis misconstrues Brad’s “I love you” as something wrong with him and has a heart attack that turns out only to be a panic attack. Dave and Alex become obsessed with playing with nerf guns. Penny meets a cute Italian and realizes that she can only speak Italian and understand him when she's drunk.

Dave (Zachary Knighton) decides to quit his job and open a restaurant, only to learn that his friends think he is making a big mistake. Meanwhile, as Jane (Eliza Coupe) and Max (Adam Pally) vie over which of them would survive a zombie apocalypse, Penny (Casey Wilson) struggles to fit in with her new hipster boyfriend (guest star John Bobek) and his friends.

Alex has a mouse in her apartment and asks Dave to come over and get rid of it humanely. While there, Dave falls in love with their old place. He lets the mouse go so he can spend more time there. Penny takes a Krav Maga class. Jane joins the class, is way too intense, and kicks the crap out of Penny. Max accuses Brad of being a “gay-cist”.

As Dave (Zachary Knighton) seeks his high school mentor Alan Fitzgerald’s (guest star Rob Huebel) help in a big food truck competition, Brad and Jane argue for job interview strategies. And after Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) and Max (Adam Pally) organize a protest against a chain coffee shop, they have second thoughts upon learning that Max has been dating the company’s handsome owner (guest star Max Greenfield).

Dave (Zachary Knighton) and Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) contemplate removing the tattoos they each got after a night of drinking, until they discover how painful it will be. And while Jane (Eliza Coupe) tries to convince Max (Adam Pally) not to be so judgmental about a prospective date (guest star O-T Fagbenle), Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) tries to assuage his guilt after his complaints cost a waiter his job.

As Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) and Dave (Zachary Knighton) struggle to move past their wedding day breakup with the support of their family and friends, Jane (Eliza Coupe) fears that her marriage to Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) is in danger of losing its spark. And as Dave reluctantly moves in with Max (Adam Pally), Penny grudgingly agrees to attend a cooking class with Alex.

When their favorite band is coming to Chicago, Dave (Zachary Knighton) and Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) refuse to let their recent break up stand in the way of everyone seeing them together. While Penny (Casey Wilson) is excited about reuniting with Tommy (guest star Nick Thune), a Barefoot Pedaler fiddler with whom she had a one-night stand, a YouTube video of the wedding day debacle reopens Dave’s emotional wounds.

When her “safety husband” Shershow (guest star T.J. Miller) is engaged to be married, Penny (Casey Wilson) looks to replace him with Max (Adam Pally). But as the gang prepares to attend Penny’s chronically irresponsible friend’s wedding, Jane and Brad (Eliza Coupe and Damon Wayans, Jr.) discover that because Max failed to get a minister’s license prior to their own wedding, they aren’t officially married.

Alex and Jane's sibling rivalry heats up; Dave dates an attractive woman (Bre Blair) with an unusual quirk; Penny gets an assistant.

While Dave (Zachary Knighton) and Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) throw themselves into hobbies that the other hated when they were a couple, Max (Adam Pally) worries that Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) isn’t making time for him anymore. Meanwhile, Penny (Casey Wilson) struggles with the thought of growing old alone when she buys a condo.

Against his better judgment, Dave (Zachary Knighton) hires a struggling Max (Adam Pally) to help with his food truck business, while Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) and Penny (Casey Wilson) fall in with a clique of high school mean girls. Meanwhile, Jane (Eliza Coupe) feels her maternal instinct kick in when she tracks down the child she believes was born using her donated egg.

When her mother Dana (guest star Megan Mullally) comes for a visit, Penny (Casey Wilson) worries that her positivity borders on delusion. Meanwhile, Jane (Eliza Coupe) and Brad (Damon Wayans Jr.) help Max’s (Adam Pally) limo tour business with skills they picked up in couples’ improv class.

Brad (Damon Wayans Jr.) struggles with whether to tell his new boss (guest star Larry Wilmore) about an awkward personal hygiene problem, while Jane (Eliza Coupe) tries to make sure the universe aligns in Penny’s (Casey Wilson) favor. And when Dave (Zachary Knighton) starts dating a new girl, he avoids introducing her to his judgmental friends.

When Penny (Casey Wilson) and Max (Adam Pally) team up for a mother and baby Halloween costume, they have a difficult time flirting with other guests at a party. Meanwhile, Dave (Zachary Knighton) and Alex’s (Elisha Cuthbert) costumes provoke unexpected reactions and Jane (Elisha Coupe) and Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) have a harrowing night house-sitting in the suburbs.

As Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) and Jane (Eliza Coupe) secretly enjoy separate “stay-cations,” Max (Adam Pally) convinces Dave (Zachary Knighton) to let him direct a commercial for his food truck. Meanwhile, Penny (Casey Wilson) starts a low-key relationship only to become jealous of Alex’s (Elisha Cuthbert) elaborate dates. Guest starring Brent Musberger and Fred Savage.

Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) and Dave (Zachary Knighton) become entangled in a friendship with Brad’s crazy mailman Drew (guest star Rob Riggle), while Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) struggles to design a dress for Jane (Eliza Coupe). Meanwhile, Penny (Casey Wilson) competes with Max (Adam Pally) for the affections of his niece and nephew.

Angie, Max’s high school girlfriend, is introduced to the gang because she is moving to Chicago for her job. Penny hates her because she dated Max after Angie, but Penny acts completely sweet to Angie. When Dave & Angie connect, Max invokes “the code” and tells Dave he can’t date Angie. When Dave says the code doesn’t count since Max is gay, Dave & Max engage in a “code war” where all codes are off. Max kisses Alex in an attempt to make Dave jealous, which makes Alex have a bit of a crush on Max. Brad realizes he has a “work wife,” which makes Jane want a “work husband.” When they all meet for drinks, intentions are misunderstood and they decide to just stick with real life spouses.

After arguing with Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) about an appropriate holiday tip for their housekeeper, Jane (Eliza Coupe) accidentally gives her the money they had been saving for their Christmas vacation. And while Max (Adam Pally) is surprised by how much he enjoys playing Santa at Penny’s (Casey Wilson) charity drive, Dave (Zachary Knighton) redeems several years’ worth of Alex’s (Elisha Cuthbert) Christmas gift coupons.

Dave (Zachary Knighton) stands up to a bully at the gym, while Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) realizes how much their Homeowners Association depends on his wife’s aggressive management style when Jane (Eliza Coupe) finally learns to relax. Guest starring Bobby Moynihan.

Penny (Casey Wilson) starts dating Dave’s (Zachary Knighton) unprofessional therapist while Jane (Eliza Coupe) and Max (Adam Pally) compete to see who is less vain. Meanwhile, Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) and Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) are surprised to find themselves bonding over their shared love of romantic comedies. Guest starring Ken Marino and Faith Prince.

Penny (Casey Wilson) tries to change a guy to better suit her tastes, while Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) rebels against Jane’s (Eliza Coupe) influence on his life. Meanwhile, Max (Adam Pally) and Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) accuse Dave (Zachary Knighton) of being addicted to V-neck shirts.

As Penny (Casey Wilson) tries to delay breaking up with her boyfriend until after Valentine’s Day, Dave (Zachary Knighton) worries that his girlfriend is pulling the same trick on him. Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) struggles to complete his Valentine’s Day plans with Jane (Eliza Coupe) after a dentist appointment leaves him high on laughing gas, while Max (Adam Pally) reconnects with an old boyfriend.

Dave (Zachary Knighton) is shocked to learn that his father has started dating Penny’s (Casey Wilson) thrice-divorced mother. Meanwhile, Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) convinces Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) and Max (Adam Pally) to help her stake out a Chinese restaurant she believes is a cover for a brothel. Max (Adam Pally) begs his friends to be nice to his new boyfriend, Grant (guest star James Wolk), but is taken aback when the gang becomes obsessed with him. Meanwhile, Dave (Zachary Knighton) struggles to prove that he is the “cool guy” of the group.

As winter drags on, Penny (Casey Wilson) and Dave (Zachary Knighton) eagerly await Jane (Eliza Coupe) and Brad’s (Damon Wayans, Jr.) annual fight that signals the arrival of spring. But when they try to provoke their friends into initiating their “Spring Smackdown,” things don’t go as planned. Meanwhile, Max (Adam Pally) acts more and more like a bear the longer winter lasts.

After Dave (Zachary Knighton) turns his food truck into a popular mobile speakeasy, Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.), Jane (Eliza Coupe) and Penny (Casey Wilson) all begin having sex dreams about him. Meanwhile, Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) embraces an extreme diet and Max (Adam Pally) struggles with his feelings about settling down with Grant (guest star James Wolk). After sleeping with Dave (Zachary Knighton), Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) enlists Jane (Eliza Coupe) in an effort to convince him that it never happened. Meanwhile, Penny (Casey Wilson) pushes Max (Adam Pally) to enter a scavenger hunt even though he is still depressed about his recent break-up.

Hoping to break Penny’s (Casey Wilson) birthday curse, the gang struggles to pick the perfect restaurant for the celebration. But every time they settle on a place to eat, relationship mistakes from their pasts force them to reconsider.

In order to avoid having tea with an annoying childhood friend, Penny (Casey Wilson) makes up a series of detailed lies that quickly spin out of control. Meanwhile, Dave (Zachary Knighton) and Max (Adam Pally) struggle to convince their nosy landlord to fix their oven.

When Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) convinces her friends to join her store’s kickball team, Dave (Zachary Knighton) must face his traumatic memory of accidentally kicking a ball at Penny’s (Casey Wilson) face. Meanwhile, the ruthlessly competitive Jane (Eliza Coupe) joins a competing team in order to have a better shot at winning.

As the gang attends the wedding of two of their gay friends, Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) struggles to tell Jane (Eliza Coupe) that he lost his job. Meanwhile, Max (Adam Pally) balks at reuniting with his Madonna cover band and Penny (Casey Wilson) flirts over Skype at the reception. Guest starring Brian Austin Greene and Larry Wilmore.

Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) goes to great lengths to keep his new job a secret from Jane (Eliza Coupe), while Max (Adam Pally) keeps Penny (Casey Wilson) confined to a body cast in order to spend time with her physical therapist. Meanwhile, Dave (Zachary Knighton) and Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) try to keep their rekindled relationship casual.

When Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) tries to cut back on his spending, Max (Adam Pally) helps him re-create his luxurious Saturday routine on the cheap. Jane (Eliza Coupe) tries to help Penny (Casey Wilson) drive a hard bargain for a new car, and Dave (Zachary Knighton) and Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) start to have doubts about their rekindled relationship when they look for an apartment together.

When Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) and Max (Adam Pally) join forces to DJ bar mitzvahs, their business venture quickly puts a strain on their friendship. Jane (Eliza Coupe) tries to help Dave (Zachary Knighton) and Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) keep their romantic spark alive with disastrous consequences.

While Dave (Zachary Knighton) tries to throw an “authentic” Thanksgiving in honor of his remote Navajo heritage, Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) grows concerned about their relationship when Penny (Casey Wilson) asks her why it is taking him so long to move his stuff into their new place. Meanwhile, Max (Adam Pally) forces his friends to watch some revealing footage of their long-ago appearance on The Real World.

As Jane (Eliza Coupe) bonds with her macho co-workers by criticizing Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) behind his back, Penny struggles to hide her prescription helmet from her new beau. Meanwhile, Max (Adam Pally) is offended by an acquaintance’s trick handshake. Guest starring Rob Corddry.

At a Kerkovich family party, Jane (Eliza Coupe) goes to great lengths to make her hard-to-please father laugh, while Dave (Zachary Knighton) discovers that Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) hasn’t told her parents they are back together. With Penny (Casey Wilson) finally in a stable relationship, Max (Adam Pally) tries to make her jealous by befriending another woman with a messy love life. When Jane (Eliza Coupe) admits that she was born on Christmas, her friends try to give her the perfect birthday by blocking out all signs of the holiday. Dave (Zachary Knighton) gets too involved when Penny (Casey Wilson) and her new boyfriend Pete (guest star Nick Zano) exchange gifts.

A singer celebrity buys a dress at Alex’s store and Penny positions Alex’s store as a popular place to shop. Max feels he’s dated all the single gay guys so Jane and Derrick help him meet new men. Dave tries to help Brad do a home repair and in the process Brad realizes he’s ready to get back into the workforce.

Penny and Brad struggle to cover their role in the accidental death of Alex’s racist pet parrot. Jane and Dave vie to be matchmakers for Max.

Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) looks to avoid dinner with Jane’s (Eliza Coupe) college ex, until he learns that it’s a woman. Dave (Zachary Knighton) and Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) are smitten with Max’s (Adam Pally) mysterious new roommate; Penny (Casey Wilson) joins her new boyfriend’s circle of friends.
