Amid the rumors of downsizing, Michael (Steve Carell) tries to raise employee morale with a birthday party, despite the fact that the closest birthday is a month away. As the birthday card for Meredith (Kate Flannery) makes the rounds in the office, Michael struggles to pen the funniest birthday message. Meanwhile, Dwight (Rainn Wilson) asks Jim (John Krasinski) to form a "Survivor"-type alliance so they can protect themselves during the upcoming downsizing. Elsewhere, Oscar (Oscar Nunez) collects pledges for his nephew's cerebral palsy charity walk. The office is on eggshells because Andy (Ed Helms) still hasn't found out about fiancee Angela's (Angela Kinsey) affair with Dwight (Rainn Wilson). Meanwhile, Michael is nervous about being called down to corporate for a meeting with Wallace (Andy Buckley). Dwight (Rainn Wilson) travels home for a customary Schrute funeral. He and his siblings (guest stars Majandra Delfino and Thomas Middleditch) receive a surprise inheritance that's not entirely welcome. Back at Dunder Mifflin, Todd Packer (guest star David Koechner) tries to make amends for a lifetime of bad behavior.
