Many Christians struggle with assurance temporarily; some struggle off and on for years, and others struggle their whole Christian lives.  Michael Durham deals with assurance in a way that diagnoses the cause of assurance struggles. He gets to the root cause of why a Christian grapples with God's acceptance. 

In this podcast, the focus is on how distinctly a person's faith is in the doctrine of justification. Most true Christians who struggle to be assured do so because they carry the burden of striving for an unattainable righteousness and refuse to rest in the Savior who freely extends this kind of righteousness.

There are two approaches to the Christian life that make up the majority of Christians. One is a reliance upon emotionalism, a philosophy that promotes the experience of feeling positive emotions is what is considered vibrant Christianity. The other approach is intellectualism, which believes that the Christian faith is mostly cerebral. It elevates knowledge and equates with it spiritual maturity. However, both approaches are not promoted or substantiated in the Bible. The Scriptures declare a third approach, the only way to live more abundantly.
