A Very 80s Summer 11
Well, as that great philosopher of times gone by
– Jimi Hendrix
once said –
‘It sure was a long long long hot summer
night
As far as my eyes could see’
and as far as my
senses can tell
the music is hotter
than Bill Clinton kissing girls in berets
(and
we all know where that went).
There is Madonna and Phil Collins
on the way,
not forgetting U2, B’52’s, Level 42, OMD, Depeche Mode, Jason
Donovan, Billy Ocean, Eurythmics, Altered Images, Neneh Cherry, Diana Ross and
Blondie.
It is all happening
on the latest Very 80s Summer
only on Electric Thunder
Radio

Women Who Rule The 80s 2
As one eighties songstress once said, 'Wild Women Do.' I can
tell you there were some pretty wild women in the 1980s. Especially on
Wednesday nights, when they lost at bingo. Oh, that language was disgusting.
Not Her Royal Highness Gladys Knight, who kicks off the Women Who Ruled The
80s. Her contemporaries include Hazel Dean, the aforementioned, Miss Natalie
Cole, Aretha Franklin with a couple of Rolling Stones, Chrissie Hynde assisting
UB40 with a job, the beautiful as always Fern Kinney, Paula Abdul, Carmel,
Samantha Fox, Mel + Kim, Cher, Altered Images, Terri Gibbs (ooh loved a bit of Somebody’s
Knockin’, didn’t you?), and others.
