Why You Need A Mentor & Need To Be Mentoring: This Powerful Tool For Navigating Seasons Of Waiting With Ruth Chou Simons EP 79

Why You Need A Mentor & Need To Be Mentoring: This Powerful Tool For Navigating Seasons Of Waiting With Ruth Chou Simons EP 79

    In this episode:

Award-winning author and founder of the online brand GraceLaced.com, Ruth Chou Simons, joins Heather to talk about what it feels like when your current life circumstances, your parenting, marriage, career and friendships, are so far from where you long for them to be.

In her new book, Now and Not Yet: Pressing In When You’re Waiting, Wanting, and Restless for More, Ruth encourages readers to see their current circumstances the way God does, align their perspective with his and choose to press in instead of look for a way out. Drawing from scripture, biblical wisdom, and personal experience, Ruth's deep belief that God has already ultimately fulfilled all of His promises in Christ undergirds every word of Now and Now Yet. Readers will feel deeply understood, gently challenged and encouraged to call on the Lord amidst every circumstance—to trust they are right where they need to be because God will use it all.

Ruth states - “I truly believe your current season is not wasted." And, "God is purposeful about what happens between today and tomorrow, between right now and someday. My prayer is that we stop hiding behind simple platitudes and quick fixes to our unwanted right nows and bravely step into the ways God wants to change us… instead of staying busy trying to change our circumstances.”

What You Need To Know About Mouth Taping & How Mouth Breathing Is Impacting Your Stress, Sleep & Parenting With Campbell Will EP 78

What You Need To Know About Mouth Taping & How Mouth Breathing Is Impacting Your Stress, Sleep & Parenting With Campbell Will EP 78

    In this episode:
Campbell Will, founder of Breath Body Therapy, joins Heather to share his story about researching the power of breathwork and how breathwork isn't a trend but rather it is the single most important function of the body and can either drive us towards health or towards disease.

Campbell shares that one of the best things you can do for your nervous system is to manage your state and thus how a managed state impacts parenting. Children will mirror the energy and attitude of parents.

Campbell unpacks the differences between mouth breathing vs nose breathing as well as the impact each has on the mind, body, and nervous system. He also touches on stress (embracing it rather than avoiding it), self regulation (teaching the nervous system how to be calm, the link between breathing and emotions, and the difference between "breathwork" and "breath retraining".

Campbell practically walks through good breathing patterns including how to properly take a deep breath.

Campbell's best takeaway is to use your breathing as a way to hit the reset button throughout the day. When you begin noticing mouth breathing, use the moment to course correct.

How Community Directly Impacts Your Health & Why Isolation Adds To Anxiety & Depression With Justin Earley EP 77

    In this episode:

Justin Earley, author of 3 books, Habits Of The Household, The Common Rule, and Made For People, joins Heather to share his insight on the life-changing difference of navigating life with a community vs without. Justin shares how friendships impact our overall mental health and how anxiety and depression are baked into loneliness.

Heather points out Justin's insightful quote: “You are in the overwhelming majority if you are lonely. The new normal. We are the most physically connected and yet spiritually isolated people who have ever walked the planet. This is a spiritual crisis, not just social, because this endemic modern loneliness because it’s much more about your soul being hidden not just your body. It’s deadly. Loneliness kills us, body and soul, because it’s the opposite of what we were made for.”

God will meet you there and He will guide you out of that place of feeling "stuck".
