The How to Be Fabulous book is almost here 👗✨🥂

The How to Be Fabulous book is almost here 👗✨🥂

That's right, next week, on the 28th of November, my brand new book will be hitting shelves in Australia & New Zealand.  How to Be Fabulous is all about finding and honing your style through secondhand & vintage clothes. This project has been a labour of love for me, a project which went from a tiny e-book (which you may remember me talking about in season one) to a fully-fledged hardback book. The book itself is gorgeous, full inspirational imagery yet is compact enough to read on the beach this summer.

I'm so pleased I'm getting the opportunity to connect with you all again in yet another way. The book really is a direct result of this wonderful and engaged, vintage-loving audience. Pre-order your copy now from booktopia or get your copy from your favourite bookshop from next week. Fingers crossed it'll also be available in other territories in the foreseeable future.

I can't wait do hear what you all think of the book. Really I wrote it for all of you! Do tag me on pictures of you with your copy of the book well on @charlottedallison. xx

    Inspire Yourself with Natasha Lester

    Inspire Yourself with Natasha Lester

Natasha Lester is a New York Times best-selling  author based in Perth, Western Australian. She once worked in the very fabulous role as a marketing executive for L’Oreal before doing an MA in creative writing and going on to pen and publish eight books (with the 9th on its way). If you’ve ever read any of her novels you’ll notice that fashion is often a theme, with many of her stories centring on fashion houses of yesteryear against the glamorous backdrop of Paris. When she’s not writing, she loves collecting vintage fashion, travelling, reading, practicing the art of fashion illustration as well as spending time with her three children. Her latest book, The Three Lives of Alix St Pierre, is out now internationally, and she’s soon set to release her ninth novel, The Disappearance of Astrid Bricard, which you can pre-order in North America now.

Doing Your Research with Robecca Leyden of Sans Pareil

Robecca Leyden is a digital marketing and communications expert. Many moons ago she started style blog called Sans Pareil which has since turned into an up cycled vintage brand, and is now New Zealand’s top online indie magazine. Sans Pareil focuses on giving a voice to smaller, independent and sustainable, fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands. The platform is based between Auckland and London where she has dividing her time between for the last four years.
Join us for a more casual conversation, in which we talk about our kiwi coyness (aka kiwi cringe), the early days of blogging, our useless arts degrees and up-cycling.

Sentimental Style with Bre Audrey Graham

Sentimental Style with Bre Audrey Graham

Bre Audrey Graham is a food writer and editor based in London. Bre adores vintage and has been wearing it since she was a teen. Spending her life between Sydney, Singapore and now London, she’s been blessed with many style influences on her journey. She also often styles her gorgeous Instagram shots of delectable dishes using vintage tableware (I highly recommend you take a look). Her debut cook book, Table for Two, is out now.
In this episode we talk sentimentality, how food links to fashion, YSL cashmere singlets found in charity shops and her incredible, deco flat (which is situated in the only apartment building in London which still has a restaurant in its lobby!). It's a fab episode which will leave you hungry for vintage and a table for two.

Thrifting as Medicine with Christene Barberich

Thrifting as Medicine with Christene Barberich

Christene Barberich is a writer, editor, advisor and thrifting aficionado. She famously co-founded Refinery29,  which started in 2005 and was sold in 2019. Most recently, she started a Substack Newsletter called A Tiny Apt. devoted to home (particularly small spaces), life, and personal style as well as her ongoing pursuit of amazing vintage and various sidewalk or foot-path finds. It’s one of my favourite Substack reads and I highly recommend you subscribe to it here.
In this episode we go deep - talking about thrifting as a life line, how it sees us through life's highs and lows; from it being our only means of shopping when we're broke, to rediscovering glamour after lockdown. It's a beautiful episode, by far one of my favourites from this season, and will have you craving a rummage session at the local thrift store in an instant.

Corporate Revenge with my Fabulous Friend Priyam

Corporate Revenge with my Fabulous Friend Priyam

Now I thought it would be fun and interesting to include an interview with a friend each season. Last season I interviewed my friend Rosie, a burlesque star aka Miss Rosie Rivette, which you can listen to here. And this season I wanted to chat to my very stylish friend, Priyam. Priyam and I actually met through my previous vintage shop, Chez Charlotte Vintage. She and our friend Clare were both devoted customers who rocked my stock like nobody else. Since then the three of us have become partners in fashion crime, shopping and scouring for vintage together. As for Priyam, beyond being stylish and owning block colours like nobody's business, what I find most intriguing about her is that she dresses so boldly yet works as a hard hitting tech salesperson (not exactly a role that one equates with style). I find it fascinating that she is outwardly creative yet her career is corporate. She loves a fab mirror selfie too (according to her she can never resist the narcissistic urge).

As it transpires she has a masters degree in creative direction (that’s on top of her law degree) which is not a surprise! So today I wanted to chat to her about wearing vintage in a corporate environment, as well as balancing her myriad of interests and passions in life. We also chat about food, the glamour of suiting and a life growing up on the shop floor.
