Season 3 - Episode 8 - Empathy and Emotional Regulation

Season 3 - Episode 8 - Empathy and Emotional Regulation

Today's episode is a sombre one. Over the weekend in Sydney, there was a tragic scene of senseless violence at Bondi Junction. It had me consider what was relevant to talk about today. When change is introduced in organisations, emotional responses can range from passive through to extreme's. More often than not, these extreme reactions are due to a myriad of reasons, some being a trauma response. The old saying goes that you never know what is going on in someone's world, and when events like those on the weekend took place, that was the first thing I thought of when recording this episode.

Be sure to be empathetic when planning, introducing or managing change. Support your people in a constructive way.

Today is a short episode but one which has one core message - check in on each other.

Season 3 - Episode 4 - Why is change important for organisations now?

Season 3 - Episode 4 - Why is change important for organisations now?

It's a valid question - why change management and why now?  Now of course I am going to talk about the benefits of change management but the costs that an organisation will incur as a result of ignoring change capabilities will compound over time. There are some stats and facts about how change management improves program performance but also there are people engagement factors which also contribute to the success of change.

One major thing is certain and that is there is no such thing as status quo and there is a need for new capabilities to be developed.
