When We All Show Up Burned Out At Work

In March 2020, when the pandemic hit, Chris Smalls was an hourly worker at a warehouse in Staten Island. Today, he is the president of the Amazon Labor Union. In this episode, we learn about how working conditions can contribute to burnout in workplaces across America. We’ll also hear about what we can all do to redesign workplaces to avoid burnout.

Correction: A previous version of this episode had an incorrect statistic related to Amazon’s hiring pacing, which has since been removed.

Before Shannon quit her job in talent management, work was so taxing that she would dream of being admitted to the hospital, just so she’d have a good excuse to not answer her email. In this episode, explore the dissonance of a society that asks us to choose between health, family and our career. We also explore ways to help us survive and thrive in the midst of hustle culture.

Excellent Depth & Rangw

Wonderful podcast with the depth and range the host and guests explore the facets, foundations, nuances, means for recovery, and how institutions may evolve to move away from the ubiquitousness of this avoidable issue.

Not resonating with me, but appreciate the topic.

It’s a bit too broad, having listened to the first few episodes. When the resolution to the friend who was a social media executive was to find another job that was less stressful, i realized this was very topline in scope.

Love it!

I am a teacher with 14 years in and this last one was so hard. I felt burned out. I recently got into podcasts and this podcast was advertised on another one I listen to. I loved this podcast! I got to the end and was so sad there isn’t more to listen to. It truly helped my burnout and I find myself relistening for the little nuggets of wisdom that helped me. I think I have told anyone who will listen how much I love this podcast. Thank you for sharing your story and the stories of those who might go unheard. Thank you for helping me not feel alone in my feelings.
