38 episodes

They come from two different sides of the political spectrum: John Kasich, former Governor of Ohio and 2016 Republican presidential candidate; and Jordan Klepper, a liberal comedian best known for his viral videos interviewing MAGA supporters for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.

In this weekly talk show podcast, the pair will come together to scream their differing political opinions at each other for an hour… just kidding. Sure, there will be some political debate, but Kasich & Klepper’s discussions will more often explore the common ground of their shared interests. They’ll dive into conversations about parenting, leadership, pop culture, mental health, and more — all with a good sense of humor and a whole lot of jokes at each other’s expense.

Along the way, Kasich & Klepper will be joined by high-profile guests from all walks of life — musicians, athletes, activists, politicians, and much more — each of whom will share their unique perspectives on modern life’s biggest questions.

Together, Kasich & Klepper will have thoughtful, engaging, and downright hilarious conversations to demonstrate the power of mutual understanding in a polarized world.

    Celinda Lake and Ed Goeas

    Celinda Lake and Ed Goeas

Midterms are right around the corner. What issues REALLY matter most to voters? Who will win the House and the Senate? Will Trump and Biden face off again in 2024? To get the answers, Kasich & Klepper turn to Celinda Lake, one of the country’s top Democratic pollsters, and Ed Goeas, a prominent republican pollster and partner at Tarrance Group. They explain how polling accuracy has changed over the decades, why people often lie to pollsters, and whether voters really care about civility in politics. They also discuss where abortion rights, immigration, climate change, crime, and the economy rank in importance to voters going into the November elections. Celinda Lake and Ed Goeas’ upcoming book, “A QUESTION OF RESPECT: Bringing Us Together in a Deeply Divided Nation” is available for pre-order now.

    Lis Smith

    Lis Smith

When Kasich is away, the Democrats will play. Jordan Klepper is without his partner in civility this week, so he welcomes Lis Smith, Democratic strategist for more than 20 political campaigns including Barack Obama, Andrew Cuomo and Pete Buttigieg. Jordan and Lis debate Biden’s favorability struggles, whether a “nice” candidate like Pete Buttigieg can survive in this hellish political landscape, and how they both prep to talk with Fox News or MAGA supporters. They also break down whether the DOJ will actually bring Trump to justice and Lis describes what it’s like behind closed doors in Washington with the titillating-yet-scary stories in her new book. Lis’ NYT bestseller, ANY GIVEN TUESDAY: A POLITICAL LOVE STORY is out now wherever you buy your books.

Tons of Fun

Paul and Stephen provide one of the most highly entertaining podcasts I’ve ever heard. The guests are smart and somewhat whacky so it all adds up to one of the funniest podcasts that I’ve listened to. I listen to Chinwag when I work out and laughing out loud has prompted a number of people to ask me what I’m listening to so hopefully that generates more listeners.

Great Podcast!

I learned about this podcast when I Listened to an interview on The Gist. I’m really glad that I checked it out. The interview with Kal Penn was interesting & funny. This podcast is a keeper! Too bad it appears that the podcast has run its course as there hasn’t been a new episode in months.

Love Klepper: Can’t abide Kasich

Kasich ruins it for me because he falls for all the talking points from the right. He doesn’t use facts— the police haven’t been defunded— the funds may be used for other things like social workers who pair up with cops on calls and the funds may not be for buying military style equipment (tanks for example). Also, don’t know where he heard liberals think the world ends tomorrow— we’re talking about taking some measures to make the earth more livable but in the words of the late great George Carlin— the earth isn’t going anywhere— we are if we keep screwing our selves with selfishness and being childish!
