But, throughout the years, I noticed that all the stories I enjoyed and grew to love needed more diversity. And when a diverse character appeared, it almost always was in a stereotypical format
Black Anime is essential because it contributes to the diversification and inclusivity of the anime medium, allowing for authentic representation and relatable storytelling for Black audiences. By featuring characters, themes, and narratives that reflect the Black experience, Black Anime provides a platform for individuals to see themselves reflected in a genre that has historically lacked diversity. This representation fosters a sense of belonging and pride and helps break down stereotypes and challenge cultural biases. Jaromir Francois (@sky_surfer117) Name’s Jaromir Frederick Foch [fosh] François… I know its a lot. Friends call me Jay. Born on September 1992. When I was younger, my sister and I used to tell each other stories during bedtime (no matter how dumb or nonsensical it was) and we’d get in trouble for talking really loud when our parents slept. Stories, no matter the platform, it was my first love and I didn’t know it until high school. And when I graduated college, all my energy was (and still is) put into sharing my creations with the rest of the world. As an adult I made a few wrong turns in becoming what I want to be (a creator). Inspired by my top three nonfictional heroes (Stan Lee, Tina Fey and Donald Glover aka CG), I hope to someday reach my goals.
