I understand the being raised by someone mean

However my mom is Bi-polar and I have been abused verbally, mentally and emotionally most of my life. I lost my dad before I turned 4. Like a month and a half shy of turning 4 and then being raised with a crack head mother, it’s all traumatizing stuff which I believe caused my BPD. I have a son and a daughter and neither one of them would say I was mean to them or am anything like my mother. We all need to take into consideration that just because someone is diagnosed with a certain mental illness does not mean that because the person you know with that mental illness is a certain way, that everyone with it, is that way. Not sure if I made sense but I have BPD and that does not make me mean or a bad person. I just have a lot of work to do to get better but I definitely strive to be better than I was the day before so everyday is progress. I don’t even yell at my children. Ever.

Not accurate

I was raised by a borderline mom and she did a lot of damage to me and my brothers. This podcast makes BPD sound like it’s just about overly sensitive people we are to tip toe around and feel sorry for. they no doubt suffer but they really make their children suffer and are mean. It’s very serious.

So helpful

Thank you. I’ve been looking for more information on BPD as I’m learning to love my partner a little better every day.. and myself as I’m learning. It’s some of the hardest work I’ve ever done. I’m thankful for the voices of those who understand and have walked this path too.
