Great stuff!
An engaging resource for exploring the differences among the array langs; for learning about the evolution of the tools of thought which underpin them; and for hearing about their various real-world applications from industry veterans. Great energy among the panelists. I’ve really appreciated the added immersion this has provided while learning APL and J thus far.
Love the energy
Great podcast, loved all of the speakers and their attitude to the technology they love. Hope to learn a ton from this.
A great source of information about array languages
To my knowledge, this is the first podcast devoted solely to array-based programming languages. These languages descended from Ken Iverson’s APL and include (in addition to APL) J, K, Q and a few others. These languages have fallen out of favor (partly because the learning curve is quite steep) but they are poised for a comeback. Array languages allow you to write code in a fraction of the amount of code you would need in more traditional languages, and the code can often be strikingly beautiful as well. If you’ve heard about these languages and a want to learn more, this podcast is a great resource.
