    Changing Attitudes

    Changing Attitudes

Hey soul Patch listeners, Jack here. We have an interesting episode for you today. We were kind of all over the place. We were talking about, well, first, we had to issue a retraction. We gave you some wrong information regarding elections. And then we talked about a little bit about doughnuts, which is always a good topic. I enjoy that. And uh, you know, the main topic we we discussed today had to do with kind of students' attitudes and how they've they've kind of changed the over the last 20 years and how you know things that used to be kind of taboo or, you know, inappropriate or whatever. It's not even a big deal, and it's just interesting how things have changed. I've I've been teaching it almost 20 years at the same university, so I've really noticed it, you know, and I've probably changed too. I mean, it's not just the students that are changing, it's also, you know, I'm getting older as well, so, yeah, we just talked about that, that kind of stuff and we hope that you find it interesting and uh, yeah, we had just a good a good old chat with the the three of us together back together again. So we hope you enjoy the show.

    Justified Neglect

    Justified Neglect

Hey everybody, this is Jack from the Soul Patch podcast and. We are back. We are planning to release episodes twice a month, and today's episode started as a a kind of free form conversation, but it led into talking about connections that we try to hold on to. When we move to Korea and. And whether it's healthy to, try to hold on to those connections through online platforms like Zoom or Skype or other messenger sites and whether that hinders our ability to really. Invest in life in our new country, or whether it can be a hindrance. There's no right or wrong way to to to live an expat lifestyle. It's just the conversation just led into two areas where we kind of speculated on whether sometimes disconnecting from our friend groups uh even just temporarily while we're over here is not, does not push us into a kind of discomfort zone that actually is useful for for growth, or whether we, whenever we are met with some sort of discomfort, homesickness and whatnot, whether running back to our online lives to maintain those those connections back home is healthy. Whether that is helping us or or creating a hindrance and you know there there's no right or wrong way to to live this expat lifestyle but it was just an interesting, interesting conversation to just kind of speculate and wonder whether we're actually helping ourselves by trying to hold on to those those connections back home, or whether letting go a little bit might push us into what we could call discomfort zones that actually create you know growth and push us into areas of of of learning and and growing. And so I don't think we were able to ultimately answer the question. That's up to every, every individual, but it was, it was a really interesting conversation and we hope that you you guys enjoyed this. So without further ado, let's start the show.

It's never too late to reach out

It's never too late to reach out

In this episode of The Seoul Patch Podcast, the guys discuss the idea that it's never too late to reach out to those in the past that we used to be close with. When you live an expat lifestyle, it's easy to let friends from high school, college, your 20s, etc. slip from your fingers. Sometimes we grow apart, and sometimes we just put off writing that email. What Ryan discovered during his trip home is that the other party is often wanting to reach out to you, and it just takes one person taking the initiative in order to reestablish contact with that close friend from the past. Let us know if you have experienced this at podcast@theseoulpatch.com.

Now I’m Even More Excited to Head to Korea!

Informative and engaging, this podcast is extremely helpful for largely western foreigners who are thinking about heading to South Korea. I’m looking to move out by the year’s end, and The Seoul Patch has greatly helped me understand what I’m getting into.

I really like these guys. They are very positive throughout the podcasts, but they don’t pull punches and are honest about negative stuff, too. Overall, they come across as genuine dudes that just want to share their experiences to let others know that a cool, alternative life is out there for the taking.

I caught the vision to teach English before, but with every episode I’m more and more sure that this is the place for me!
