My favorite book podcast

Every week Lucas Cantor Santiago interviews a fascinating person who chooses a book they love, or one they’ve always wanted to read and talk about. Lucas is an insightful interviewer who isn’t afraid to discuss how the book has affected him or how it has connected to a memory or an event, often sharing anecdotes from his own experiences. He’s unafraid to admit when he hadn’t thought about this particular subject and how thrilled and moved he is to learn more about it. He’s curious and reads closely, connecting one book to another, or to something a previous guest said that has relevance to the current episode. He’s terrific when he surprises the guest by his erudition, often to humorous results, but he’s humble about the gaps he’s trying to fill with these discussions. The guests seem to be having a good time, and especially when he interviews authors, his questions are not the cliches we’re used to hearing. It’s my favorite book podcast and I look forward to it every Friday. Every week is a surprise.
