The Lack is a weekly podcast from political theorist Benjamin Studebaker, philosopher Nina Power and filmmaker Helen Rollins. We take a work each week (film, poem, essay, book...) and relate it to a philosophical theme for a wide-ranging discussion about ideas, culture and society. Each week, there is an A-side public episode and a B-side, patreon only, private episode.

All Superlatives

I haven’t seen most of the films reviewed by The Lack crew; no matter. The essay-to-conversation format provides a brilliant framework. The banter is electric. I’ve listened to many episodes twice. I will listen to this week’s (7/10/21) at least three times.

Academic essay form of podcasting

These are essays delivered vocally, with some discussion. I don’t mind since I’m an academic but I do prefer the spirit of unscriptedness in podcasting. Btw, if you do a podcast, please do your listeners a favor and spend $100 on a decent microphone
