8-20-23 Rude Depressing Heat, But Hope for Fall Tomatoes and Love for Retamas

8-20-23 Rude Depressing Heat, But Hope for Fall Tomatoes and Love for Retamas

This summer has been brutal. Pretty much no rainfall since May, July was irrationally hot and August continues to be RUDE with its heat. But Julie is hopeful for a fall garden with a modest tomato harvest. The star of the summer is the Retama tree that popped up in her yard this spring. With absolute no care or attention, the retama is blooming and proves to be a winner for a xeric landscape.

Dear Lord this lady is amazing!

I’ve created a serious obsession with this podcast. Easy to understand, no fluff, no commercials. Goes deep into different subjects but not overly scientific.
To someone who was a good gardener on the east coast, but complete failure with TX soil and weather…every episode is gold.
Love it and thank you for creating this space.

Hope for us black-thumbed gardeners

I feel as if I’m listening to a friend! So much nicer than being preached at by other gardening gurus (who tend to scold and never admit to their own failings). Julie is knowledgable and encouraging and funny. I particularly loved the tomato guerrilla gardening episode. I live in Louisiana which has similar miserable summers so her advice is apt and welcome.

Great Podcast

Love to hear episodes in the mornings, and putting in action Julie’s tips for Gardening. A++
