    Episode 79 - Michael Holness

    Sean, Cal and Katie speak with an East Cheshire Harriers who won South East Lancs League overall, won 1st vet in Manchester League XC twice and finished joint top v40 with Dave Norman, 1st vet at Salford 10k. Michael talks about running as a junior and what skills he learned that help him today. As well as how he got back into running after he recognised that he needed a change in lifestyle. Michael talks about how coaching brings rewards and where he has gathered the information to help him be a coach. Also, he talks about who inspires him and how confidence is key.

    The team are back from the big smoke with medals and new T-Shirts along with a hangover that lasted a little longer than expected. Sean talks us through his PB and breaking that 2:39 barrier, Katie tells us about finally running up the mall without cramp, and Cal tells us how to celebrate after a marathon PB!

    Sean and Cal speak with a Lake District based fellow runner who loves the hills and fells of Cumbria . Rupert Bonnington is also Director of Mountain Fuel Nutrition, the teams fuel of choice! Rupert talks about how he got into running and what its like to run in the fells. He explains about his current injuries.     Cal, Katie, Sean and Dave talk to a Saddleworth Runner who recently completed the Winter Spine Race in 6 days and 12 hours. Whilst raising £4000. With PBs of 5k 20:27, 10k 46:21, HM 1:41, M 3:47. Danielle talks first about how she got into running and how her brother had to make sacrifices for his 1st birthday. She talks about how she got to join Saddleworth Runners and how they helped her with fell running and how good they are as a club. Danielle then talks about the Spine, from hallucinations, to messages from home.

    The team talk about their training after 4 weeks of not recording and lots of race reviews, including Trafford, Road Relays, and Wilmslow. Sean talks about marathon training and his new Alphafly 3s, Cal explains his wobble at Trafford and how he has learnt from it, Katie chats about a similar wobble at Trafford and Wilmslow, and Dave gets into his best 10k time in 4 years.

    Dave, Hayley, Cal and Fraser speak with an athlete and coach. Nia placing 2nd in MACCL U17 Women in 2023 and 2024, Derbyshire 3,000m Track Champion, making her 10k road debut in Sept 2023, and getting 37:07 at Knutsford 10k becoming the 4th fastest u17 lady in the UK. Barry has been running for 20+ years with 22 marathons, 3 ironman Triathlons and is the head coach and chairman of Start2Jog Running Club. Nia talk about how she got into running and what progress she has made so far, as well as being as committed as possible. Nia also explains why she doesn't run with a watch. Barry talks about his time coaching and why he loves it so much as well as his own running experiences including marathons and an ultra. Both talk about their relationship and why it works so well.

With PBs of 17:57 for 5k, 37:26 for 10k, 83:43 for half and 3:31:09 for a marathon, Naz talks about all things Parkrun (including the new changes to records) and about how he loves parkrun so much. Naz also talks about how much he gives back to the community whether thats running, or at his local Mosque. Running through a small injury in his knee, Naz explains what exercise he does apart from running, and its a lot.
