Imma Be Eating You: Jeepers Creepers (2001)

Imma Be Eating You: Jeepers Creepers (2001)

This week the somewhat under-appreciated early 2000s horror movie, Jeepers Creepers (2001) gives us a real shock. Starring an allegedly hot Justin Long, Jeepers Creepers is a simple, classic horror movie that features an old, winged demon with bad hair who has some sick moves (I mean, he backflips off a car). So, join us as we talk about all things scary, like Christianity and vanity plates!
Talking points: Persuasion (2022), In Bruges (2008), Letterboxd Corner, unravelling who exactly The Creeper is, Christianity, how guys talk, The Creeper’s butt, and how the ending of this movie could have been better.

She’s Just Fine, Leave Her Alone: He’s Just Not That Into You

She’s Just Fine, Leave Her Alone: He’s Just Not That Into You

Warning: Olexa’s audio is bad for half of this episode *womp womp*
This week we review a movie we collectively have seen probably 12 times; it is the 2009 romantic comedy, He’s Just Not That Into You. We take on this late 2000s movie to see if it is really as “sexist” and “superficial” as the Rotten Tomatoes critics and Letterboxd users claim. And honestly, we’ve seen worse. He’s Just Not That Into You is just fine, so leave her alone!
Talking points: Toronto slang, movie budgets, reading reviews from practically every movie review platform, movie budgets, stereotyping in films, engagement rings, a rom-com for adult men, “high school” students in film and television, the diversity of your 20s, and Jennifer Anniston’s quest to bring back rom-coms.

    Gaymy Schumer: Senior Year

    Gaymy Schumer: Senior Year

This week we regret to inform you that Netflix’s Senior Year was an extremely enjoyable film! Sorry guys, but this movie is nostalgic, funny, and has an incredible soundtrack. If this came out when we were, like, 13, it would have been perfect to watch at a sleepover with your besties in your mom’s basement. Release your inhibitions, feel the rain on your skin, and watch Senior Year with us!
Talking points: Drew Barrymore, the insane plot of this movie, Rebel Wilson, Amy Schumer, Letterboxd Corner, Top Gun 2, the Netflix High School Cinematic Universe, the nostalgic charm of 90s and 2000s movies, our comfort TV shows, toe shots, and the soundtrack of this movie.

Immigrating from Space: Men in Black

Immigrating from Space: Men in Black

Surprise! We’re back! We are super excited to get back into poorly judging films with you guys. On our first week back we tackle the cultural touchstone 90’s film, Men in Black starring the one and only Will Smith. The New York City aliens in this movie gave us some good laughs and we had a lot of fun talking about this comedy, action, and sci-fi medley of a film. Hope you enjoy it!
Talking Points: figuring out if and how Tommy Lee Jones is hot, Rotten Tomatoes ratings, movie scores, opening credits, Letterboxd Corner, high school parties, the aliens, Jim Carey, the French language, David Lynch films, and Stephen Spielberg.

The Militarization of Julia Roberts: Valentine’s Day

Welcome to the Valentine’s Day Special! This week we review the 2010 rom-com, Valentine’s Day. The cast of this movie is STACKED, and we kind of loved the complex web of characters and the wide variety of love stories. Happy Valentine’s y’all!
Talking points: our choice of celebrity husbands, Robert Pattinson, Olivia’s mom’s fave movies, the cast of Valentine’s Day, Letterboxd Corner, Taylor Swift fans, M. Night Shyamalan, end credit bloopers, Grey’s Anatomy, and our thoughts on V-Day & other holidays.

    Totally Trippin’-dicular: Valley Girl

    Totally Trippin’-dicular: Valley Girl

This week we watched Valley Girl (1983), which is maybe the most 80s movie of all time! It stars a young Nicolas Cage (who we love) who plays a “punk” from Hollywood who falls for a preppy girl from the Valley. This film has some very questionable moments and a killer soundtrack, so tune in and find out if Valley Girl goes to heaven or hell!
Talking points: Iggy Azalea, dating Some Guy, Letterboxd Corner, 80s vernacular, our fave 80s movies, our fave movies in general, Nicolas Cage’s chest hair, the myth of pee in Arizona iced tea, and endocannibalism.
