93- Scandinavia's Open-Air Living Mindset with Linda Åkeson McGurk

93- Scandinavia's Open-Air Living Mindset with Linda Åkeson McGurk

Linda Åkeson McGurk is the author of two books: There’s No Such Thing as Bad Weather: A Scandinavian Mom’s Secrets for Raising Healthy, Resilient, and Confident Kids and The Open-Air Life: Discover the Nordic Art of Friluftsliv and Embrace Nature Every Day.

Linda is a Swedish American writer who passionately advocates for the Nordic outdoor tradition called friluftsliv. She’s written two books, which I already mentioned, and runs the blog “Rain or Shine Momma” where she shares tips and inspiration for outdoor play everyday, regardless of the weather. And I don’t think these tips are for kids alone. They’re also for the forgotten child inside of all of us who still need free time outside every week.

Her work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, The New York Times, The New York Post, Huffington Post, and Psychology Today, and more.

Michael Rymer ,

Great podcast for dark-sky lovers!

I found Vicky’s podcast earlier this year (2022) and was ecstatic to hear someone have such enthusiasm and love for the night sky like I do. Her show is so well produced I would have thought she had been doing this for years. And her guests are such amazing people who do amazing things for dark-sky education and conservation, and they all have such unique backgrounds and talents that address this wonderful topic in various ways that anyone listening can relate to. Then the star tours at the end of the episodes are so great for new star gazers to help familiarize themselves with the night sky. I love the Night Sky Tourist podcast and I will continue to listen to it religiously. Thank you Vicky for all that you do for dark skies!

A podcast that provides the next level

Information about the night sky is readily available on the Internet. What the Night Sky Tourist uniquely provides is how the night sky has and can affect everything that we do. Things such as ancient ruins, animal behavior, and human behavior are closely connected to the night sky. Fascinating facts!
