Alison, Maartje and Anne | Part 2: Monsters Since Childhood

Alison, Maartje and Anne | Part 2: Monsters Since Childhood

When multiple women and children were raped in and around London's railway network during the early 1980s, detectives initially believed one man was responsible.

They didn't realise that two men had committed the horrific acts and that their sadistic tendencies would soon turn to murder.

In this two-part series, I discuss what became the nation’s biggest manhunt since the Peter Sutcliffe inquiry.

This second and final part focuses on the perpetrators, John Duffy and David Mulcahy, who, since childhood, had been on a monstrous path of criminality.

Interview #53 | Other Women: Emma Flint Discusses Her Second Novel

Interview #53 | Other Women: Emma Flint Discusses Her Second Novel

I welcome author Emma Flint to the show in this interview episode to discuss her second novel, 'Other Women'.

Emma grew up in Newcastle upon Tyne and has been writing fiction since she knew what stories were. She graduated from the University of St. Andrews with an MA in English Language and Literature, later completing a novel-writing course at the Faber Academy.

Since childhood, she has been drawn to true crime stories, developing an encyclopaedic knowledge of real-life murder cases. She is equally fascinated by notorious historical figures and by unorthodox women – past, present and fictional.

'Other Women' is a devastating story of fantasy, obsession and shame inspired by a murder that took place six years after the end of the Great War.

The paperback edition was released by Picador on March 7, 2024, and is available to purchase here:

One of the best…

I’ve been listening to true crime podcasts for the past 7+ years and I’m not sure how I missed this one. Luckily, I came across it a couple of months ago and soon found myself bingeing the old episodes and seasons.

The research is thorough, delivery is succinct and informative and Stu shows true compassion for the victims in a kind and respectful manner.

I do love the “Cheerio” at the end of each episode and can’t wait for new episodes to drop.

Please keep up the good work you’re doing highlighting lesser known but equally important stories.

Cheers from across the pond. 👏🏻
