Planning for the dry by improving our subsoils with Chris Smith
Welcome to season 9 of AgVic Talk, 'Planning for the dry'. In this preview episode we meet Chris Smith who farms west of Horsham on some variable soil types. Chris explores sub-soil amelioration and discusses some of the benefits and challenges of undertaking this soil improvement project.
Note:
A gilgai heavy flat consists of mounds and depressions formed on shrink-swell and cracking clay soils.
A lunette is a fixed dune in a crescent shape formed on the eastern side of ancient lakes or water basins.
