The United Arab Emirates, which has gone all in on getting into the space-tourism business, unveiled a hotel room that can fly itself this past September. The “astro pad” isn’t available yet, but the company that built it, called SOMA Space, says that they will begin taking reservations next year. When it does go on sale, this hotel room will cost $750,000 for a week-long stay. You can stay in it for free — if you don’t mind sleeping in a crash cabin and you have no problem literally living out of a suitcase. That is, you can only take the astro pad with you if you have a reservation at another of SOMA Space’s hotels.

Everybody has an opinion about the best next big company. It's exciting, isn't it? The level of the audacity and ambition we see in the early phases of companies like Uber, AirBnb and Palantir.
