#56 – The Big Freeze
This week on Poplar Opinion we're talking about the season seven Christmas Special of Call the Midwife. That’s the Christmas special that comes after season six and before season seven.
On this episode, Poplar has the coldest winter in centuries (I said on the podcast it was “in decades” but fact-checking during editing shows that I undersold it). While everyone copes with the cold, Val has a patient who is worried because her boyfriend isn’t her baby’s father, and Sister Julienne takes care of a recent widow with a painful past.
Note: in this episode we call one the characters “Althea” throughout. We had a conversation about whether it was “Althea” or “Anthea” that we cut out of the edit for being boring, but it turns out that the name we landed on was wrong. It’s Anthea! Oops!
We will be taking a short break before beginning season seven properly, but not a long one! Send us your thoughts, and if you’d like to share a birth story we’ll read it in a minisode between seasons! -

Keep Going!
I love Call the Midwife. So much, maybe too much haha. I’m rewatching it again, while listening to this podcast. I love hearing your opinions on each episode. You both bring up great points, and sometimes make me realize things I didn’t notice in the episode. The discussion is great. Please keep making this podcast for as long as the show runs!

Lovely podcast
I’ve been rewatching the show and I’m really enjoying this as a companion - especially the discussions of the themes of the episodes and the insights into some of the religious references that are outside my knowledge base. Hope you continue!
