Limitless Conversations with Leslie-Ann Smith | Women and Equality

Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future.

In this episode, we invite Leslie-Ann Smith, to help decode equality and "escalate the conversation".

This past International Women's Month, the UN geared the month towards the awareness of equality and dubbed the theme "Women in leadership: achieving an equal future in a covid 19 world". But what does this all mean?

As it stands, women are still over-represented in low-income jobs and under-represented in leadership positions, the pandemic has further shifted this reality into regression. With the help of Leslie, we peel back the layers of the different factors contributing to this regression particularly in a local context.

A GBV Story 'It was just once'
Gender-based violence is a pervasive issue in South Africa.

Today on the show, we bring you a real story - not about a victim, but about a survivor of Gender-Based Violence (domestic abuse).

Our Guest Melisha takes us through her brave journey of how she was able to turn her pain into power.

In this chat, we cover Melisha's story and dabble into the nuanced female experiences that are often not spoken about - we all know about physical abuse, the scars are often there to see, but about 'emotional abuse'. We learn that abuse is a spectrum and this conversation could not be any more timely as it coincides with the global campaign - 'The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children Campaign', a United Nations campaign which takes place annually from 25 November (International Day of No Violence against Women) to 10 December.

End Femicide. End violence against women and children.

Social distancing, not the worst thing to happen to us. Yes, to Girl Chat!

What a time to be alive, three months into 2020 and we have survived the unthinkable. Pandemic or not, let's keep positive.

Stay home and Netflix or maybe spring clean or finally get into that book!

Spend time with loved ones! You may finally have time to catch up with friends on the phone, video call, catch up and have a meaningful conversation.

Dominique and Carla chit chat about a topic that is dear to them - Carla reveals some of the challenges of growing up 'mixed-ish' in South Africa. A topic to be furthered on the show in the weeks to come.

They celebrate the woman of the moment - Pearl Thusi on Netflix's first African Original 'Queen Sono'. Dominique reveals that she found it profound to see a female action lead doing her thing with a full-blown, beautiful afro.

Fifteen years of friendship and they are still getting to know each other.
Are you still friends with your primary or high school mates?

Vulnerable Confessions (and other dumb stuff)

Vulnerable Confessions (and other dumb stuff)

Hey Limitless Fam. We love random chit chats and in this episode, we are just happy to have Lebo back in the pod with us. This is literally our first catch-up episode, all together!

Carla gets deep into her thoughts about the reality show ""Real Housewives of Johannesburg""... maybe a little too deep.

We discuss the rise of ""celebrity vulnerable confessions"", we are so torn, we are simply struggling to figure out if these are genuine expressions of vulnerability or just a publicity stunt for more album sales?

We did warn you and it's in our tagline, sometimes, we are going to have fun, light and sometimes overly dumb conversations. This is our way of maintaining balance and having fun in between the growing and developing.
