JSS: 19 Michael Andrew, Vaccines, and Political Bias

JSS: 19 Michael Andrew, Vaccines, and Political Bias

Andrew‘s refusal to vaccinate before Tokyo caused quite the uproar in the swimming community. The reaction got me thinking about political bias - on both sides of the aisle - and how both the left and right need to think clearly and without bias regarding issues of national prominence. Both sides are to blame. Both sides value emotions over facts. Both sides need to wake up to the reality of the truth - the overwhelming majority of us are biased in our thinking.

Disappointing

Listened to learn more about powerracks but the recent episode about MA’s vaccine hesitancy will be my last. There is no “both sides” to this issue, and the abortion example is not the gotcha Jake acts like it is. MA choosing to travel to a foreign country during a pandemic puts countless other people at risk. Abortion only affects the person having the abortion. It’s a pretty lazy comparison, honestly.

If he cared about public safety, he’d have gotten vaccinated. Like MA, Jake’s neutrality on this issue is actively harmful. If you’re going to use your platform to talk about culture and politics please be responsible about it. Don’t tell people to “calm down” when the pandemic is still killing hundreds of Americans, more and more every day, needlessly, because people like MA decided not to follow CDC guidance to help us reach herd immunity. How unpatriotic.
