Researchers developed a five step plan to prevent what they call "needless pain" for kids getting injections or their blood drawn. NPR's Short Wave talks with Dr. Stefan Friedrichsdorf of UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals, who works with a team to implement the plan at his own hospital, about how to eliminate pain during shots.

Improve your indoor air quality

This episode discussed dust, hvac filters, gas stoves, portable air purifiers…. Nothing collects dust like a ceiling fan …. No mention of ceiling fans .. perfectly located to move air and collect dust …. A common, average size ceiling will move around 3500 cubic feet of air per minute…. An HVAC system in a 2000 square foot house will move around 1200 cubic feet of air per minute …. Ceiling fans are a green energy product, and move more air than your HVAC system …. You can put air filters on ceiling fans to filter all of that air!!! …. You guys dropped the ball on this one … I would enjoy an opportunity to discuss this with someone …

Hit or Miss

Loved the caffeine episode. I found the specifics from the Dr. very useful. The protein episode was just OK for me. I could have done without the personal trainer’s name and workout style. I would rather have access to the information on amino acids. The responses to inquiries for those who Don t eat animal products were met with recommendations to eat dairy, eggs and fish and the salad recipe for tuna with almonds 🤮. I liked the info on calculating weight to needed protein. This could have been expanded on to include current weight verses goal weight. They might have discussed complete plant based proteins and how to measure the combinations. Quinoa, buckwheat. Beans and rice, dairy substitutes, soy. How to navigate food, takeout, recipes, hacks. , budgeting, ethical farms, healthiest choices for meat Etc.
