New Best Friends!

I am thoroughly enjoying binging this podcast while at work. I love criminal minds and can only talk about it and other true crime things to friends and family for so long before they think I’m a serial killer. I love listening to this and feeling like I’m watching with friends who understand my love of this show!

Of course people play chess in parks

Podcast is good. Kelly and Kelsie are very funny. I don’t personally always agree with all their takes or interpretations/opinions on certain characters, but they are very insightful and entertaining nonetheless.

Except for some reason, I don’t know how in my skipping around I’ve picked all the episodes where this is mentioned, but like 6 times now I’ve heard them complain about how unrealistic it seems for people to play chess in public parks. And it’s like… chess sets are portable, if someone likes chess and parks it’s only natural. Sure maybe it’s not that common in general, but it’s not exactly uncommon for chess players to choose the local park on a nice day. I mean people play chess in coffee shops too, but how often do you actually see it in the wild? It definitely happens, even if it’s just organized events. Sometimes people hold outdoor chess tournaments, maybe that’s mostly in college towns but still. Park chess is cool. Park chess is sexy. Park chess 100% totally exists. I stan park chess and will not tolerate this narrative of park chess erasure.

Anyway this podcast has been away for a while and maybe there’s social media updates/ bts stuff I don’t know about, but I do hope they return and hope they are both doing well. This is so far the most comprehensive criminal minds podcast I can find, so, if you feel like you can’t find good discussions about the show, this is the place.

Love this podcast!

If I could rate The Unknown Subject 6 stars out of 5, I would. I usually listen on Spotify, but I downloaded Apple Podcasts just to leave a review. The Unknown Subject is a hidden gem in the Criminal Minds community, and I truly cannot express the amount of joy I get listening to this podcast. Kelly and Kelsie are so funny and share such fun insights into the episodes. When I started watching criminal minds, I looked around for a podcast so I could still listen to something CM related while I was at work. I tried out a few different podcasts and The Unknown Subject is by far and away the best, mostly due to Kelly and Kelsie’s amazing dynamic and chemistry. And their pop culture references are always fun (even if some of them are before my time). I also appreciate the added fun facts and recommendations (they start halfway through season 2) at the end of every episode, they are a really nice reprieve from the sometimes very dark content of the CM episodes. This podcast is perfect for someone just starting criminal minds because they go episode by episode, just be prepared for minor spoilers for the rest of the series. As soon as I caught up to where they were in the show, I found myself, every Wednesday, eagerly awaiting another episode, and re-listening to all of the previous episodes to fill the gap between episodes. At this point, I think I have listened through all of the episodes four or five times, even the Gideon era. To quote the hosts themselves, “Come here for the Criminal Minds, stay for the Kelsie and Kelly” I promise, you won’t regret it!
