Watching terrible movies so you don't have to!
-
661 - Antholocraft
This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM wrap up their "month" of Lovecraft with a TV anthology installment and a Lovecraft anthology movie. Tune in for a very positive video game review, and stay to find out what movies DM watched while she was flying back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean.
-
660 - Retro Lovecraft
This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM watch two more Lovecrafty movies. There's some good stuff buried in The Unnamable and The Unnamable 2. Tune in for a video game review, and stay to hear DM fail to count to six. Twice.
-
659 - Modern Lovecraft
This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM watch a couple of Lovecraft adaptations. Suitable Flesh isn't bad but is very, very, gratuitously sexual. Color Out of Space is a pretty good effort to adapt what is often thought to be an unfilmable story. Tune in to hear DM thoroughly embarrass herself, and stay for discussion about "Lovecraftian" means.
-
658 - Found Footage Fiesta
This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM return to their favourite horror sub-genre with a couple of found footage movies. Deadstream does a great job making you dislike its main character, and Hell House LLC Origins does a bad job expanding the Hell House mythos. Tune in for a documentary recommendation and stay for a tangential self-promotion for a video made nearly a decade ago.
-
657 - Kingbruary Week 3
NB: Apologies for the poor(er) sound quality this week. This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM wrap up their month of catching up with Stephen King by watching a couple of King sequels. Doctor Sleep is really quite good, and everyone is surprised by how much they enjoyed The Rage: Carrie 2, even if its title is backwards. Tune in for a too-long discussion about a pirate video game, and stay for a very specific and specialized list.
-
656 - Kingbruary Week 2
This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM watch the original Pet Sematary and it's sequel, Pet Sematary 2. The first one takes too long to get going, but when it does it's pretty wild. The sequel is just kinda bonkers right from the start. Tune for a movie recommendation, and stay for the easiest horror trivia question ever.

The best genre podcast out there.
This long running podcast has just been introduced to Apple podcasts after years of consistently funny and entertaining discussion of the best and worst that genre films have to offer.
Sort of like those cable TV genre blocks with host segments before and after commercial breaks, or like I imagine MST3K would be if it were a podcast, this fun show takes apart odd, interesting genre films and pays more attention to them then perhaps even their creators did.
The show doesn’t just explore the obscure, however. Google the TheAvod to check out their earlier catalog, which includes my personal favorite episodes, “The John Carpenter Crazy Watch” - a weekly segment charting John Carpenter’s movies descent into increasingly bizarre and unhinged storytelling that left some people wondering if they paralleled the auteurs personal state of mind. These episodes served as a fantastic companion piece to the directors body of work, and are among my favorite podcasts ever produced by anybody. Other recommendations from the earlier archives are the Sherlock, and Lake Mungo episodes. The show really sings when they’re both on the same page and excitedly discussing their favorite media.
This show deserves to be heard by more people, it’s that good. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
