Recharge your brain and spirit
I’m a selfish podcast listener. I listen and enjoy but have never before now taken the time to rate or review one. I’m four episodes in, and this podcast does something for me that no other has. I typically can sit back and let a narrative unfold in familiar and infotaining formulas. No negative connotations intended. Formulas are formulas because they work. But Scott Morris does something different. It’s like you’re sitting in an intimate space with a best friend after more than one drink but several shy of too many. You’ve gotten comfortable. He’s gotten quietly wound up. And then the story begins, with an arc that fits no formula. You’re listening to a story about a squirrel, and before you realize it hours have passed and tears are running down your cheeks and the story about that squirrel was actually a story about a father and a son and a wife and your first child that you thought would never come, and you feel sadness and joy all at the same time. And if it were all just that, that could be enough. But it’s not just that. I finish each episode with some definitive resolve to live my life better, through art and heart and mind, and even with an inkling of how to go about it. So take the time with this one. Learn the rhythms of Scott’s thoughts and stories. You’ll be the better for it.
