Sister Act - Apostles, Bird Calls & a Purple Mink Coat

We were in 1992 last week, and we’re in 1992 again as we talk about Whoopi Goldberg’s comedy classic Sister Act! While neither Paul nor Erika actually saw Sister Act The Musical, it nevertheless exists and so this movie qualifies for the theme this month! Come remember the good times, and we promise we’ll do Sister Act 2 at some point as well…we know some of y’all have STRONG opinions about that one!

Happy Tony Award Season to all who celebrate (and those who don’t, um…don’t worry, it’s only for June)! Erika and Paul kick off a month-long fete of the theatre with 1992’s Newsies, aka the film that introduced a generation to Christian Bale (despite last week’s episode, this is not a Christian Bale podcast). Come sing along as That Aged Well takes you through this cult musical!

American Psycho - Douche Bros, Business Cards & a Stray Kitten

The patrons have spoken and so Paul and Erika watched 2000’s American Psycho, aka the film that made Christian Bale! It’s also a film Paul swore he would never watch, then adjusted that vow to would never watch outside of October, but here we are in May and he watched American Psycho…how many Le Creuset’s were thrown at the TV? Listen and find out!

The Mirror Has Two Faces (w/ Tom Zohar) - Prime Numbers, Lesbian Orgy Dreams & a Dude In A Loose Tank Top

Would you believe…WOULD YOU BELIEVE that Erika and Paul have never talked through a Barbra Streisand movie on this show?? Incredible! It’s so wild they had to call in an expert, and are joined by Tom Zohar (@TomZohar on Twitter, we will never call it that other thing, go follow him!) who has done the work on Barbra, and is here to answer all of our questions! Barbra Streisand, Lauren Bacall, Tom Zohar…what more could anyone hope for?

Jumpin’ Jack Flash - Brooches, Rolling Stones Films & a Ham On Wry

It’s been a minute since That Aged Well has had the pleasure of watching Whoopi Goldberg…so long, in fact, that Paul and Erika almost forgot what a movie star she is! Luckily, Penny Marshall didn’t forget and cast her in the 1986 spy romp Jumpin’ Jack Flash. Your hosts are here to not only take you through this movie, but also offer recommendations for all the other movies that are based on Rolling Stones songs…there are way more than you think.

The Matrix - Renegade Computer Hackers, Penis Enlargement & a Wet Sneeze

It’s May, That Aged Well is celebrating women directors, and Erika and Paul kick things off with a bang as they talk about 1999’s seminal action flick The Matrix, directed by the Wachowskis! Topics include penis pumps, dusters, the 90’s obsession with computer hackers, and, of course, birthing videos…you won’t want to miss this one!

Long time listener, first time caller

I discovered the show during the pandemic, and after moving out of New York to Florida and finding myself in the car for long stretches of time, I will admit that it has become my savior.

I have laughed out loud a bit too much while driving - I will admit, but the mix of the humor, the comfort of rehashing my generation’s films, Erika’s Miami-ness and Paul’s New York’s-ness, I feel seen on so many levels!! 😂

I am for sure a lifelong fan!! 500 stars!

The most fun podcast around! I save these episodes for when I can literally laugh out loud. Paul and Erica are really quick witted and I love hearing their takes on all the things. If you’re not listening, you’re missing out!

A heart felt thanks

I totally love you guys, and you truly filled up a hole in my heart. Slightly serious content ahead: my mom was a lifelong movie buff, and I caught the bug from her. One of our favorite guilty pleasures was to settle in for an afternoon of bad movie watching-our favorites were overwrought melodramas from the 1940’s and 50’s, happily agonizing with the golden age divas of that period-Stanwyck, Crawford, Baxter, and of course, Queen Bette Davis.

Since my mom passed away, I lost that particular joy, and it has only been recently that I have been able to sit down and watch any of those movies. Happily, I just recently discovered you two gems, and it truly was like sitting on the sofa with my mom again-laughing ourselves silly over smoldering looks, terrible fashion choices and ill timed face slaps.

Your deep dive into the Valley of the Dolls had me in stitches-Erika, your Anne as Hannibal Lecter-chef’s kiss! You both truly sphakle! (Also, thank you for promoting Sunset Boulevard for the brilliant film that it is.) Looking forward many more warm and hilarious afternoons with you as I wade into your library. Fingers crossed that you will someday find it in your hearts to explore the films of director extraordinaire, Douglas Sirk. All That Heaven Allows and Magnificent Obsession were the epitome of the so called “women’s pictures”, and I have a feeling you both would have a field day.

Wishing you all the best and many trashy movies in your future.
