VFTPB 47: Cam Connor watches Slap Shot and provides a 2 hour commentary!

We bring you a special 2 hour episode where Cam Connor revisits the movie Slap Shot and provides a running commentary of the movie.
Through stories, Cam remembers this era and in fact watched the Slap Shot movie in a theatre with Gordie Howe, so Cam provides a bit of Howe's perspective as well. Let's just say Gordie wasn't too happy how hockey players were portrayed.
We hope you enjoy this episode and all the stories and memories shared.

Love This Podcast

I love Cam’s stories. As a former NHLer, he has insight into the game that only a professional player could have. I love hearing all the behind the scenes details of life as an NHL player. I grew up a Hershey Bears season ticket holder in the 70s and 80s, so I always really enjoy Cam’s stories about how crazy the minors were during that time. Cam has the ability to tell the stories of his amazing experiences without all the unnecessary profanity that so many other hockey podcasts rely on for shock value. I’m no prude and as a former construction worker and former hockey player, referee and coach, I’ve heard and used every combination of curse words imaginable. That being said, it’s so refreshing to hear the stores without every other work being an expletive. Chris has the ability to spark Cam’s memory and bring out the best stories and has some good stories of his own. Thank you Cam and Chris for producing this fun podcast and keep up the great work!!! I look forward to many more amazing stories from one of hockey’s toughest players. And if you’re ever in the Hershey PA area, I’d love you buy you both a beer! Go Bears!

Nothing But Respect For Cam

Cam went on my show (MattieC’s Sports For You & Me) and what an amazing person with great hockey stories. This guy is a true fans player, and old school guy. Loved the stories of Montreal,Edmonton, the WHL, and hockey life. I recommend this great podcast if you want great NHL stories and experiences Cam went through!!!!

Interesting and entertaining

As a lifelong Canadiens fan I am familiar with Cam Connor and fondly recall his OT winner vs. the Leafs in 1979. But that was about all I remember about the man. Although I generally fall into the hockey is a finesse game camp, there is no denying that there was a certain honor among the rough and tumble hockey players of yesteryear, a fundamental decency paradoxical with the rough and tumble nature of the game. Connor is a great storyteller and really captures the life of a pro hockey player of the 1970s and 80s.
