Dear Al,

Thank you. Thank you for everything. But especially thank you for S2 E4. Truth matters. Keep doing what you do.

😂

These guys are such doooorks. Was honestly a little turned off by all the hijinks but if you let go of your dignity a little and give it a listen you’ll realize how funny they are. It’s a little like listening to that friend at work who’s always coming up with stupid puns that are just clever enough that you have to hide the fact that you’re laughing. During no ordinary love I cracked up at willie’s story in public a bunch of diff times. It’s also legit serious sometimes- listened to the good guy myth off the strength of the title- it’s always intriguing to see dudes wrestle with ‘good guy’ status- it’s like watching an accident that you can’t look away from, but this story went in an entirely different direction than I thought it would, and even though I felt like I knew where it was going, that ending still threw me for a loop. Anyway for what it is, its a good podcast. Listen to it.

Creative, with heart. Be prepared to think, and feel.

I stumbled across Al's work on SOTRU a few years ago (well-worth listening; he got some of the places I've lived, spot-on). From there I followed him to his current work on Reveal and this podcast. While the work on Reveal is also genuine, it is a bit more serious on the Journalism side (with a big "J"). This podcast is much more freeform, and while it also tackles very serious subjects, it does this from a more emotional angle. Sometimes Truth is just as much or more about feelings than it is about facts, and this podcast speaks to that. Willie does an excellent job at what can be a sometimes overlooked and difficult task of acting as someone else's foil, asking the questions the audience is asking in their heads. I enjoyed hearing his story in the last episode of Season Two. I was glad to hear we won't have to wait another umpteen years for Season Three!
