Andrea Olson of Go Diaper Free explains elimination communication - the concept of pottying your baby, as early as birth - which is what people have done for all of human history and in today’s world where there are no diapers. She makes it easy to integrate EC into your modern lifestyle as a new parent, demystifies how to know your baby needs to go, how to take them to the toilet instead of primarily relying on the diaper, and makes EC approachable, accessible, and fun, for all parents...whether part-time, with or without diapers, and in any region of the world. Contrary to popular marketing messages, diapers are tools, not toilets, and babies are ALL born “ready” to use the toilet. Learn how to connect with your baby on this very natural level with Andrea’s expert guidance, and experience the freedom of a life without dependence upon diapers, a life without traumatic toilet training, a life where your baby gets a head start on developing motor skills, communication, and learning by prioritizing this age-appropriate skill (0-18 months). EC honors your baby’s dignity and makes parenting THAT much easier! Stop changing blowouts...and learn how to listen to your baby’s requests for good hygiene. Learn more at godiaperfree.com. (PS - Andrea also occasionally covers potty training, for those of you who find us after 18 months.)

Thanks for the encouragement and tips

I had to work a little to find help with this topic, and appreciate the short, focused episodes. Some are more useful than others at different ages, so I find it works best to browse through the archive and find episodes most relevant to where you are.

Toddler training

This podcast has really helped me out during the first few days of potty training with my toddler, since I also have a 7 month old to chase! Listening to the podcast gives me the encouragement, reminders, and confidence I need to keep moving forward even when I miss a pee! Keep working hard mamas and dadas!
Give your child the keys today!!

Andrea is the EC wizard!

I am so grateful for this resource! I stumbled into EC by accident when every time I opened my 7 day old sons diaper thinking he’d gone, he would poop and pee on me! I decided to start putting him over the toilet when my “mommy sense” would tingle, and you bet your bottom dollar, he’d pee! The rest is history….in the making. He’s now 8 months old and I haven’t looked back.
Every one has thought or currently thinks I was kidding or is legitimately crazy but it’s actually MUCH easier than I expected. I work part time and EC part time, but I’m consistent in when i do take him. “The easy catches” that Andrea talks about it the BEST place to start and to stay consistent in. Also, “transition times” help me remember to take him (before after bed/naps, before after car ride, etc).

I rarely ever use wipes, I get more positive connection with my baby, less mess, and I am gleefully looking to the day when my baby crawls or walks to the tiny toilet and potties himself before the age of 5 🤪

Potty training my two older sons was a living nightmare gone bad, so this has been an absolute dream. My two olders were in diapers until 3 and pull-ups until 4 and countless soiled undies until 5+. NO THANKS.

I can honestly tell he enjoys it, feels better when he’s relieved, and is even proud of himself! Yes, I truly can already see his joy when he realizes the power he already has over his body.

Thank YOU, Andrea! I have no idea where I’d be without your help. 🙏🏼

Also - when would be a good time to transition to Tiny Undies? How often does he need to be staying fully dry before going for it?
