[Heart Rate Recovery] How to Measure Recovery During Your Workout w/Bryan Boorstein, Anders Varner, Doug Larson, and Travis Mash

[Heart Rate Recovery] How to Measure Recovery During Your Workout w/Bryan Boorstein, Anders Varner, Doug Larson, and Travis Mash

In today’s episode of Barbell Shrugged, Bryan Boorstein is back to discuss Heart Rate Recovery. Heart rate recovery refers to the rate at which a person's heart rate decreases after a period of exercise. It is a crucial indicator of cardiovascular fitness and overall health.
After intense physical activity, a healthy individual's heart rate should gradually return to its resting rate within a certain timeframe. Slower heart rate recovery may signify poor cardiovascular conditioning and an increased risk of heart-related issues.
Monitoring heart rate recovery provides valuable insights into an individual's fitness level and helps tailor effective exercise programs for improved cardiovascular health.

Mbrohms ,

I’m so I glad I found this podcast!

I just listened to the episode about menopause and fitness with Dr. Abbie Smith-Ryan. I have weight trained for over 30 years, but I am realizing I definitely need to up my game with protein and also supplementation now that Im post menopausal. The entire episode was incredibly helpful and informative.

Love the Energy

Great to hear the excitement of living purposefully and in a healthy mindset. Getting older it’s vital to stay moving and limber. Listening to the kids episode I have some feedback about family dinners. You guys glaze over its importance ( or unimportance) and state that the kids don’t sit still or throw food or knock chairs over. I have three boys 2,4,5 and we have had family dinners since day one. I knew that with hard work and repetitive behavior the kids would learn to eat their foods in a calm setting and create good food choices. And it’s worked! They are used to seeing Whole Foods and eating together. While you state playing is more important your missing all the other lessons that eating together brings. Making wholesome food choices, paying attention, setting the table, conversing about your day, and not misbehaving at the table. As a nutrition professional I assure you that eating together will reinforce positive food choices in the long run. Thanks for your podcast and I look forward to hearing more!

Inadequate

As an open-minded, academically trained endocrinologist who aggressively promotes lifestyle changes to optimize hormonal health I was disappointed by the episode on menopause. There was enough misleading info in that episode that I won’t be recommending this podcast to my patients. Please avoid making sweeping statements about hormones and conventional medicine - it weakens the potential power of your intended message.
