Nancy Brophy fills her novels with romantic betrayals and murder. It’s a far cry from her quiet life in the suburbs, where she and her chef husband, Dan, are living out their golden years. But when Dan is shot dead, Nancy finds herself at the center of a murder case that could be ripped from the pages of her novels.
From Wondery, this is a story about what happens when the line blurs between fiction and reality.

Interesting Listen

I’m always looking for a new storyline style true crime podcast, so when I came across this one I was excited. To be honest, the way it is authored, I couldn’t tell at first if it was fiction or a true story. It is indeed a true story. I feel like it could’ve been slightly more suspenseful seeing as where it’s an extremely repetitive 6 episode story that could have been told in 4 episodes. I like the way they worked some of Nancy’s writing into the story since the prosecution took the time to read her books with the belief they could derive clues from her writing.

I love Haley Jones ,

Too long

It is too puffed up and could have been told in less episodes, the narrator also sounds very excited as if she isn’t talking about someone who was killed. She also sounds very robotic and I think the script could have been better. The only reason that I gave it any stars is because it is a good story, I just wish it had been told better.

Unlistenable

The host over dramatizes the whole story to the point of being obnoxious. It’s not a true crime podcast - - it’s really a story teller recounting a sensationalized murder. The story itself is interesting but the host tells it like she’s speaking to a room full of 3rd graders.
