We’re bringing the tempo up this week as we welcome CHYL, a DJ / producer on the rise who is making a unique brand of speed house inspired by classic EDM and Formula 1 racing. Hailing from Vancouver by way of China, CHYL left her full-time job on Wall Street to pursue her dreams as a musician. In record time she graduated from ICON Collective and released high-energy music that caught the attention of industry legends like Steve Aoki, who signed several of her tracks to his label Dim Mak.
We chill with CHYL and talk about why Formula 1 racing is an inspiration of hers, how the drivers are hunky European dudes, the culture shock of growing up in China versus Vancouver, how Friends and iCarly were instrumental in her life, working a brutal Wall Street job out of college, discovering her love for dance music through NYC club culture, why Asian parents force their kids to play instruments but are against them becoming musicians, what it's like getting a cake thrown at you by Steve Aoki, turning dance music into a full-fledged career, and an insane story of how she almost got scammed by a manager into being in a Chinese EDM girl group.

Keeping it rolling this week on All This Noise with another rising electronic music star who is constructing her own musical world called Star City. The one-and-only Nostalgix joins us for a fun conversation about her journey from Iran to Vancouver to Los Angeles and all over the world, and the musical through line that has tied it all together. She’s made a name for herself with high-energy house music and collaborations with the likes of Dr. Fresch, Moksi, Evan Giia, and Rico Nasty among others.
Nostalgix sits down with us to discuss her mindset practices, balancing fitness and routine with her schedule on the road, how she started producing with Family Guy samples, the influence of Martin Garrix and Dr. Fresch’s sound on her journey, opening her first set with the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song, the grind of being a college DJ, winning a competition to play at Paradiso Festival, moving to LA and getting her break at HARD Summer, playing a rave inside a bakery, and the aesthetics of her immersive Star City project.

Back with more noise this week as we welcome VNSSA to the program, a SoCal native and house music devotee who has worked her way from DJing local venues, to playing festival stages across the country, to her first-ever headline tour “Hell Freezes Over” which just wrapped its run. VNSSA has also released tunes on cool labels such as DIRTYBIRD, Higher Ground, and Black Book Records among others.
