46. Jamukha (Genghis Khan’s Blood Brother)
Grab a hat full of sour horse milk and hunker down with yur(t) boys this week as we cover the doomed bromance between Genghis Khan [aka "Temugin"] and his blood-brother-turned-rival, Jamukha. Both imprisoned by Merkits as kids, Temugin and Jamukha make it official with a blood oath, and when Temugin's bride gets stolen by another band of those pesky Merkits, Jamukha rallys an army to get her back. Exciting stuff, hmm? I wanted to write more, but at this point you should just listen.
Featuring: yurts, mispronunciations, bridal warfare, empire as a byproduct of raid-culture, horses as vehicles, horses as tanks, shamans, horses as kegs, sustainable indoor heating, and the big reset.

45. The Klondike Gold Rush (California Gold Rush)
We're back with our coldest episode yet, covering North America's most overshadowed gold rush - the Yukon/Klondike - that spanned 1896-1899 and yielded MORE GOLD than the California gold rush, which lasted twice as long. Featuring: outdoorsy gambling addicts, deadbeat dads, lady-yeast, the boom town of Dawson, a scamming willy wonka type, and what we think is too many dead horses.
The Klondike Stampede saw 100,000 inexperienced hopefuls journeying West in search of cold gold, but only 30,000 made it to the gold fields, and only a few dozen actually made it out with a meaningful haul.
