where to start
THE best episode(s) yet is S3 ep 11 & 12!
For those who grew up in the church as. 2nd gen (at least in America) and even for those who were never part of the church can understand more deeper into the manipulation and coercion the many of the first gen (like my parents) went through. I’m not blaming our parents but rather feel a better understanding of why they did the things they did, they were manipulated even when the initial reasoning was genuine and good. Throughout the whole podcast so far, it’s become more clear how much we (2nd gen) may not have ever truly known who our parents and siblings were. Bc we all either hid it away or lost it along the way.
Big takeaway, you don’t have to have a personal reason to leave, just listen to these stories and ask yourself “why did this even have to happen in the first place?” That’s your reason.
Fascinating interviews
I was curious to learn more about the Moonies. I know the basic history of the group, but it's been great to get this more personal view from former members. Elgen's got a great interview style and the guest stories are all extremely fascinating. I'm glad more attention is being paid to this poisonous and dangerous cult.
