Excellent information! A must listen for all parents with teens!

I found Ben’s podcast via the Life Coach School and LOVE how he uses the thought model (CTFAR = Circumstance, Thoughts, Feelings, Actions, Results) along with his extensive experience as an educator, foster parent and dad to biological children to improve the lives of teens via helping parents see how their own thoughts are affecting their parenting. I’ve been in the field of psychology/behavior analysis/education for 25 years. We often throw many different “tactics” at parents who are struggling with their children. The problem is, if parents don’t work on their thoughts, stop beating themselves up, or blaming the child as Ben points out, the situation is unlikely to change. Been offers parents hope and practical tools on how to change their thinking, so they can change how they feel, act and ultimately, change their results. I highly recommend this podcast to both parents of teens, ducators as well as any parent as he presents strategies that work across age levels. Keep of the awesome work Ben! Awesome!

Great perspective! Even though I don't have teenagers yet so much the Ben says applies to my young family and will set us up for success when they grow up.

So grateful I found this!

I just want to say thank you. Ben, I heard you for the first time ever today. I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts lately on my way to and from work, while doing projects around the house etc… and I have been struggling trying to be a better parent. I’ve been having this internal struggle within myself, and I searched “lds parenting” on the Apple podcast and an interview came up with you and Jordana Thiessen. I’m so glad I listened to it. I immediately went to your podcast afterwards “Impact” and listened to like 6 in a row this afternoon.
You are saving my life, truly as a parent. I have great kids. Two boys ages 9 and 12 (almost 13) and with my oldest we are just starting to see pre-teen tendencies that remind me of myself as a teenager…. But for some reason am at a loss on how to handle appropriately. I’m LDS, but grew up in a very emotionally controlling family, and my wife grew up the same but controlled in more of a physical sense…. And so we both have these backgrounds that aren’t the best and trying to implement new ideas into our parenting very much feels like pioneering into the unknown for me. And I’m not confident about it. I worry that I’m just setting my kids up for failure, that I’m not helping them to reach their potential.
Anyways I know you have a lot going on and I’m not trying to bother you at all….but I just want you to know your podcast, your help, your ideas are going to help me immensely. I recognize that I need to change from the “old parenting “ style, or the style that I few up with. I need an update, I just don’t know where to turn. But I feel with your knowledge, and help that I finally found a chance to change in a positive way. I know we believe in eternal families…. But I want my kids to grow up and be excited about that idea haha not like “great I’m sealed to those weirdos” or my worst fear: my kids grow up and not feel loved by their parents. I think with your help I’ll be able to keep my relationship with my kids healthy. That’s all I want… is to have and keep healthy relationships with them. Your stuff is fantastic, and I’ve never messaged anyone like this before, or wanted to leave a review so bad before but I just needed to. Thank you thank you thank you… I love it.
