SEO and Marketing News - April 28, 2020

This week in SEO News with Christopher. In what shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Site Page Speed still matters. Portent marketing agency released data on 10 websites spanning a number of industries and 26,000 different landing pages ranging from extremely slow to extremely fast.

As in previous studies the results showed that for every second you can shave off your page load speed, conversion rates went up.

Pages that loaded in under one second converted at a rate of around 2.5 times higher than pages that loaded slower than five seconds.

For the next step the company in the case study focused on implementing gradual changes such as:

Removing poorly written and unhelpful meta tags.
Using rel-canonical and removing duplicate content.
    Applying applicable structured data.

Eventually, the errors in Search Console’s Index Coverage report turned from red to green. This led to an  increase in organic traffic. Along with the increase in organic traffic, the quality of traffic also went up.

The company achieved a 93% increase in the number of new sign ups and a 9% increase in conversions.
