A Great Podcast with a great athlete, father, and philanthropist
I grew up knowing of Torrey, we both grew up in colonial beach, our moms went to school together, I read about him in the news paper succeeding in school and football. He was only a few years older than me but I was inspired by home. Now I get to listen to him open up about things he experienced in life that I can relate to. We grew up in similar ways, around the same people, when his brother passed away, I lost a classmate, my friends grieved and I knew Torrey was grieving too. Then I saw him win the super bowl. I didn’t even enjoy watching football lol but I was rooting for him. During that time by mom was in an abusive relationship with a man that was all of a sudden a very big part of my life. He took my mom away from me, sent her to the hospital, and my world turned upside down. I transferred colleges to be closer to home. My coaches at my first college didn’t know what was going on, nobody did. I felt alone but knowing that Torrey also experienced domestic violence and came out the other side the way he did, I know I can too.
