Episode 11: Spiritual, Not Religious: Honoring OUR Divine w/ Yemisi Juliana Luna.

Episode 11: Spiritual, Not Religious: Honoring OUR Divine w/ Yemisi Juliana Luna.

How many times have you said to yourself, “I’m Spiritual, Not Religious.” My very Catholic mother, likely cringes every time she hears me say it, but I’ve found that as my life evolves and I become more of myself - I’ve wanted to be connected to my Christian faith and the depth and breadth of the Universe. In Episode 11, I’m proud to welcome my dear friend, Juliana creator of the ALUNA Method, to the Iced Coffee Confessions. She inspired my quest to reclaim my Feminine Essence over dinner several moons ago, and in this episode we talk about the part of that journey that is owning all that is DIVINE about you. From the P-word and I do mean Patriarchy, to Luna’s own journey to honoring all that is divine about herself, to how to actually manifest the reality you want, to tips for actually becoming still during our current Quarantine reality - I loved every single second of this conversation, and I hope that you do too!!

    More about Yemisi “Juliana” Luna:

Yemisi "Juliana" Luna is on a journey as a multidisciplinary artist, leader, mentor and narratorial creator whose mission is to empower women through movement, ancestral awareness, and intuitive knowledge.

Luna is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but currently traveling the world designing shared experiences for people of every background. Through her studies and research Luna created The ALUNA method. A system for holistic understanding of our emotional bodies through a lunar perspective.Through this perspective she bridges people together and allows their stories to bloom. Luna brings forth to our contemporary world the creative power present in inhabiting our bodies with confidence, awareness and compassion.

In May 2015 she was invited to go on a trip to reconnect with her ancestral roots where a DNA test revealed that her ancestors come from Nigeria, more precisely, the Yoruba nation.

As the co-founder of the Instagram-based movement Project Tribe, which moto read “your crown inspires”, she used social media to fuel an entire wave of identity awareness. She also learned that the knowledge about her ancestry proved to be a turning point in her personal narrative.

Later Luna created the Yemisi Experience: a program that brings Yoga, head wrapping, writing, intuitive movement and conversations around identity and belonging as a channel of connectivity for individuals to bond with themselves fostering a holistic environment.

Today, Luna uses her art to empower not only the next generation of Afro-Brazilians but also the next generation of women to be confident in where they come from and the stories they’re meant to tell.

Episode 10: What She Said: Reclaiming Our Feminine Essence w/ Michelle Hope

Episode 10: What She Said: Reclaiming Our Feminine Essence w/ Michelle Hope

And we’re back! It’s been a minute and honey this is a good one.
2020 is the year of owning my entire feminine being and essence - which means a focus on who I am as a woman: physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and sexually. No more speaking about ourselves in fragments and pieces my loves! It’s time to embrace ourselves in our totality. Inspired by my dear Sister and Healer Juliana, I’m starting a multipart series about reclaiming our feminine essence in 2020 (and beyond).

In Episode 10 of the Iced Coffee Confessions, I’m pleased to welcome my Sistafriend, Michelle Hope, an unapologetically authentic Sexologist, Educator, and Activist, to kick off part one of these conversations. We talked about everything from the P-word and I do mean PATRIARCHY, to what our support systems need to be in order to fully embrace who we are in our totality, to the questions you should ask potential suitors while dating in a pandemic. Please note this is a GROWN FOLKS conversation. And that’s that on that.

    More about Michelle Hope:
Michelle Hope is a dedicated Sexologist, educator and activist with a Master’s degree in Human Development and extensive post-graduate training in sexuality. As a veteran speaker, Michelle has over 15 years of experience delivering impactful informative lectures and training across the nation. She believes as though her work, in marginalized urban communities, has provided her with deep insight and comprehension of the holistic implications of sexuality on one’s life.

Michelle has dedicated her career to understanding and communicating to the masses the complex intersections of various social identities: race, class, gender, and sexual orientation, through a Reproductive Justice lens.

Episode 06: The Growing Year: Reflections on 2018

So 2018 will be one of the most unforgettable years that I've experienced (to date) in adulthood. I was stretched and challenged in ways that I could never have imagined, and I'm thankful for that.

By special request, I've focused the last Iced Coffee Confessions episode of 2018 on all of the lessons that I've learned this year. We're chatting about everything from energy, to the gift and promise found in a 'NO', to mental health, to finding goodness in unexpected places. 2018 was the growing year, and I look forward to all that it's prepared me for in the years to come.

Wishing you all a Beautiful and Blessed 2019. 2018 was a blessing.
