Do I Still Love It? The Grown-Up Big Kids
-
- TV & Film
-
Every episode, Marshall & Laura (and a special guest) revisit some bit of pop culture from their childhood to determine if their younger selves had good taste...or would simply watch anything put in front of them.

The Waterboy (1998)
We continue with part 3 of our very scientific survey "Was Adam Sandler actually funny?" and watch his second sports comedy with Michael Chau of Heckler Films. We ask the tough questions like "Is Bobby Bouché supposed to be mentally stunted, emotionally stunted, or both?" and "What is the purpose of Farmer Fran and what is he saying?" and really "What dirt does Rob Schneider have on Sandler?"
-
Happy Gilmore (1996)
Part 2 of our Totally Scientific Study - Was Adam Sandler Funny? We all remember him being funny and loving his early work but then it all seemed to go downhill. We are asking “was there ever a top of the hill to go down from?” This week we are joined by funny lady Sara Goldsmith to watch Happy Gilmore and get to the bottom of it. How does that fight with Bob Barker hold up? Was Shooter McGavin the greatest Sandler villain? Wait, Ben Stiller was in this movie?
-
Billy Madison (1995)
Director/Stop-Motion Animator Eriq Wities stops by to help us figure out if Adam Sandler was ever funny or if his sense of humor is truly that of a 12-year-old (like we once were.) Join us as we try to figure out whether this film is a celebration or condemnation of the lazy capitalist class (or anything at all. -Laura)

D3: The Mighty Ducks
Paul Dupree has loved hockey for as long as he can remember, due in no small part to the Mighty Ducks film franchise. After joining Marshall and Laura for a revisit of the first two films, he is back to round out the trilogy. Will the movie disappoint? Will the kids have new character arcs? How will the movie top being the world champions from D2? How much is Emilio Estevez really in this one? Find out as Paul discovers whether he still loves it!
-
Surf Ninjas (1993)
Ben Tibbels is back on the show with another ninja flick, 1993's Surf Ninjas. More Rob Schneider, a surprise Leslie Nielsen, a confusing number of Ernie Reyeses (Reyi?) All this and more as the guys try to figure out if they still love it!
-
Home Alone 2: Lost In New York (1992)
We're back for Season 2! Youtuber and video game designer Brent Black is on the show to see if Macaulay Culkin can do it again. As we revisit Home Alone 2, we ask ourselves "how many times can the McCallisters get away with child neglect?" "Are Harry and Marv supernatural beings?" and "Is Tim Curry inevitably the best part of any movie he's in?" and of course the big one: will Brent still love it?
Customer Reviews
Love it!
I first started listening to this show on Extra Credit and I was so happy when I found out there were more episodes! Keep up the good work!!!
An honest look at nostalgia
Admittedly, I started listening to this podcast to show support because I went to high school with Marshall on the show, but it genuinely is an enjoyable podcast reviewing movies from our past and debating on whether or not they still hold up. As they review them, it's nice to think back on these films. Can't wait to see what they review next.
Super Fun Concept
Great execution and super fun to listen to and think about the nostalgia.
