After being sent to a psychiatric facility to face her anorexia, 16-year-old Elizabeth can see that the other residents are dangerously underweight, but she's jealous of their protruding bones and terrified of the weight she'll be forced to gain in treatment. Elizabeth's relationship with her ex-boyfriend and with the brother of a fellow patient are engaging, but not driving forces in her recovery, happily. Through Elizabeth's painful uphill battle, newcomer Ballard skillfully illustrates that although unhealthy eating habits may start as a choice, an eating disorder is a complicated illness that cannot be battled without support and vigilance. I honesty rlly enjoyed this book and I would suggest it!
It goes into a bit of the different behaviors of each girl at wallingfield and I rlly enjoyed that aspect of the book. I have/had suffer from an ED while managing diabetes type two so it’s very comforting to know others deals with the same things although it’s fictional. Stay safe to whoever reads this 💓💓
you need to read this!
this book is very triggering so if you have an ED, or you're recovering, don't read it. but this book really sheds a light on EDs, and makes it known how hard they are to deal with. I used to hate reading, but this book had me on the verge of tears at the ending. i love the authors writing style as well. on the last page i was literally begging for a new page to be there when i turn it, but it was just credits and stuff. haha. anyways, GET THIS BOOK!!
