Publisher Description
Inspired by elements of traditional New Zealand Maori artwork, this book incorporates the *Koru motif into the modern English alphabet. The lettering in this book has been left uncoloured so the reader can use their creativity in colouring it. Red, white and black are commonly used in traditional New Zealand Maori artwork. Materials such as jade, wood, bone, abalone and feathers are also used to give colour and meaning to artworks. There’s no right or wrong in how these images should be coloured. Freedom and creativity is encouraged.
*The Koru is used extensively as a recurring motif in traditional New Zealand Maori tattooing and painting. The Koru is said to be inspired by an unfurling fern frond and symbolic of new life and growth.
