Publisher Description

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS: The Story of How Many Thousands of Men and Women Have Recovered from Alcoholism (generally known as The Big Book) is a 1939 basic text, describing how to recover from alcoholism, written by the founders of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Bill W. & Dr. Bob. It is the originator of the seminal "twelve-step method" widely used to attempt to treat many addictions, from alcoholism and heroin addiction to marijuana addiction, as well as overeating, sex addiction, gambling addiction, and family members of alcoholics, with a strong spiritual and social emphasis.

It is one of the best-selling books of all time, having sold 30 million copies. In 2011, Time magazine placed the book on its list of the 100 best and most influential books written in English since 1923, the beginning of the magazine.

Customer Reviews

Craig Scheiner ,

I would rate it 5star, but ...

Where is the table of contents? Was the editor asleep at the wheel? How on earth can a book like this be published without a way to find the chapters?

The content is good, finding anything is next to impossible.

Disgruntled quicken user ,

It’s not the whole big book

This edition does not contain the compete text of the big book. Beginning chapters are intact, then after the “how it works” portion of the 5th chapter the entire contents of the 12&12 are inserted. After that, it picks up the big book at “to wives”.

Where is the rest of chapter 5, into action, and working with others? They aren’t included anywhere!?!

How do I get a refund

The pages do not match. Crazy making and so disappointing !
