“Nobody knows the woods of Maine like the rugged individuals who eke out a living by hunting, fishing and cutting timber. And nobody knows the region’s inhabitants like Mike Bowditch, the young game warden in Paul Doiron’s manly mysteries.” —New York Times Book Review
“Paul Doiron is shaping up as the Tony Hillerman of the east. . . . presenting central characters who are brave and brainy but all too human and fallible. . . . [Doiron’s] storytelling is controlled and always enthralling. Just like Tony Hillerman’s.” —Toronto Star

The Bear Trap Paul Doiron
A short novella featuring Game warden Mike and his best friend retired game warden Charley. Charley tells Mike how he captures who I will call a master thief stealing food at a camp for city kids. The thief has been living in the forest for 19 years and has never been caught. Problem arose when he invited Charley to see his camp and Charley almost didn’t make it out!!
The Bear Trap
Excellent story. Captured my curiosity!
New author to me—Paul Doiron. I have found I want to read more from Paul. The excerpt of the eBook: Knife Creek—that was put in after the ending of: The Bear Trap—really sparked my interest. I am going to purchase that story. And, many more!!!
Game Wardens have always fascinated me. I do watch on t.v.—the different series of North Woods Law and Lone Star Law. These are about game wardens in different parts of the United States.

Enjoyed the book, until the end. Didn’t like the ending at all.
