Sandra Brown sets up an old-fashioned romantic thriller, then tweaks it with an unexpected hit of between-the-lines social commentary. When a macho but principled freight pilot tangles with a headstrong oncologist over a mysterious pharmaceutical shipment, the pair suddenly find themselves on the run with hired guns on their tail. There's a throwback Bogart-and-Hepburn vibe to this flinty, action-prone couple, but Tailspin’s underlying plot about orphan diseases—illnesses so rare that corporations can't make money off them—adds an outspoken modern edge to the story.

Early in this suspenseful romantic thriller from bestseller Brown (Seeing Red), "freight dog" pilot Rye Mallett agrees to fly a small plane in foggy weather into a remote area of northern Georgia to deliver a black box to Nathaniel Lambert, a doctor who will be driving up from Atlanta to meet him. As Rye approaches the airport, a laser beam flashes through the plane's windshield and temporarily blinds him. Luckily, he's not seriously injured when he crash lands on the ground. Rye regains his sight, climbs out of the wrecked plane, and spots a figure in the fog. Thinking it's the saboteur who blinded him, he charges at the person, who turns out to be an attractive female doctor, Brynn O'Neal. After they exchange a few blows, Brynn says Lambert sent her in his place. Despite their mutual suspicion, Rye and Brynn join forces to guard the box, the contents of which some people are willing to kill for. The attraction between them grows along with their peril. Brown's many fans will be pleased.)

She’s done it again
Once again Sandra Brown has spun a thrilling suspense story that will keep you turning pages.
Unrealistic plot
Drawn out story, made myself finish hoping it would get better...it didn’t people, it didn’t. Story takes place in a span of 2 days with a shaky plot and typical damaged need to find someone to repair my damaged soul self flagellating characters. Hero doctor is the worst when she neglects all her other patients and opts to save one and also doesn’t check her voicemail, which by the way could have cut this story in half. I hope they revoke her medical license... whoa wait, she’s fictional. Oh well
